For those new members. Please do a screenshot or just tell us what is your MIUI version once you have gotten your Mi Max after initial set up.

It is very likely to be preloaded with China rom or 3rd party Global rom as usual.

If so, you will need to flash it to official Global rom 8.2.1.0 before you start using it.

My newstar was 8.0.3.0 global. Able to update ota to 8.1.9.0.
I update manually to 8.2.1.0.
So far so good.

I notice one thing that the Mi Max Sim Card tray is not fool proof. You can insert the tray into the phone both ways ( Sim card facing up or down).

I discovered this after I receive the new set and found the slot hard to remove when using the pin and suspect the slot was jammed in the wrong way. Took me some time to get this out.

One query: Anybody who migrated from iphone? I want to know what is the best way to transfer the Whatsapp messages from iphone to Xiaomi?

Mine seems to be able to..just that you find if u slot in the wrong side, it tends to have more resistance but you still can push it in..but with a high risk of jamming the tray..
