Thanks. Think later versions of mi flash can support 32 bits and 64 bits. Just a word of caution to check you are using the latest version of mi flash to flash.

I'm using the XiaoMiFlash(Beta) [I recall that initially only the Beta version was able to flash in EDL mode on Mi-Max locked boatloader], refer to the following screen shot.

I never follow up on the latest MiFlash latest version as I'm currently with the global stable rom. You might need to do some read up in the MIUI forums to check if there's any changes..

Yours is eu or original rom?

Mine Eng version also don't have....r u set the language usage in Chinese?

Out of the box stock ROM and on first boot, updated to Global 8.1.2.0.

Trying changing the region to Malaysia and see if Regulatory info appear. I had tried with other regions, no regulatory info too. BTW, My HTC 10 and Desire Eyes both have only MCMC logo.

Mi Max is 3gb/32gb using Snapdragon 650

Mi Max Prime used Snapdragon 652 and have 2 version : 3gb/64gb and 4gb/128gb .

I don't know how you interpret.

From gsmarena website, only the SD652 + 128GB + 4GB RAM is consider Prime model.

http://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_max-8057.php

Chipset Qualcomm MSM8956 Snapdragon 650
Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 652 - Prime model

Memory 32/64 GB, 3 GB RAM
128 GB, 4 GB RAM - Prime model

Q. What is the processor of the Mi Max ?
A. There are 2 types

Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 (codename: Hydrogen)
Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 (codename: Helium)

[Updated on 12-Aug-2016]
Q. What is the memory capacity of the Mi Max ?
A. There are 4 variants,

2GB RAM + 16GB Internal Memory (SD650)
3GB RAM + 32GB Internal Memory (SD650)
3GB RAM + 64GB Internal Memory (SD652)
4GB RAM + 128GB Internal Memory (SD652)

SD650 is Standard model, codename Hydrogen
SD652 is Prime model, codename Helium

Yes. Changed it to Malaysia and it appears. Good job. :)

Don't know why it doesn't appear on other region setting. Since AP only have 3 regions using UK plug--HK, MY and SG, our set is likely not from India or reflashed set from some other regions.

My current Mi Max has 3-pin plug out of the sealed box.

As per my seller. It is an Indian set.

I can't really remember was it a 2-pin or 3-pin plug from my 1st set of Mi Max back in August. It was confirmed an Indian export set as the only country that sells Mi Max outside China was just India back in August.

But the India review/unboxing I saw, all come with their own 2 pin plug. India do not use UK type G plug, no reason for them to stock set with UK plug leh.

Maybe the seller just a reseller, don't know where the source, anyhow hantam. :D or maybe they open the set to install GApp and at the same time, replaced the adapter. but paper cut board have nicely cut space to accommodate the big UK plug without movement. :s11:

if that's the case. Good for me then, as I thought I got a Mi Max, but instead a Prime model.

In that case, I suspect that my 1st set was a China set but opened and repacked into an Indian box with "English words printed on the box.

My current set could be a Malaysian set with a 3-pin plug out of the box.

That seller (current set) actually brought down a big box which contained 4 boxes of sealed Mi Max and told me that he has another 8 sets at home.

He said "These are Indian sets"... May be he himself also doesn't know those sets are for Malaysia...

Kind of confirm its MY set if comes with UK plug and MCMC. I browsed thru some unboxing/开箱 video, the only one that looks exactly the same as mine is this:

Malaysia Chinese review call Ering.

I try to capture a screen shot of the back of that box from the video and then compare it to the back of my own box and report back later...

watched quite some unboxing, the Chinese version have the usb cable and adapter placed on the top and botom. The India and Malaysia set have the cable and adapter in the center.

anyway, whats the pros and cons of unlocking the bootloader for Xiaomi? I unlock standard Android to install apps with root access and also to remove the pre-install junk.

Am I right to say if its Chinese set, we have to use either Miflash or unlock bootloader to install Global ROM or GApps? since I will be using Mi Max mainly for video and web browsing plus there aren't many junk need to be removed, I guess unlock isn't essential, OTA update will also work.

If you wanna root to install TWRP to install 3rd party customized rom likes the eu.rom, then you must Unlocked Bootloader.

If you just wanna change rom from official China rom to official Global rom. Then you don't have to Unlocked Bootloader. You can just use MiFlash to flash to a Global rom using a Fastboot ROM method. :s22:

I think you just mIflash to Global Stable 8.1.2.0 will do! Just a 5 minutes job! :)

Global Stable 8.1.2.0 is awesome!

I see, thanks for the info. :)

The MIUI 8 with Global 8.1.2.0 is good enough for me, don't find any major issue that would make me wanna install custom ROM.

The TWRP nand backup is a nice feature though, but I worry tampering the system image might break the OTA. stability is top priority, too busy to spend time tweaking phone now. :o

Save the headache and potential trouble. Just flash to 8.1.2.0. :)

8.1.2.0 is already damn smooth and good comparing to previous versions of MIUI8.0 :)

Hi Bros,

Am looking at Mi Max as 1 of the alternative to replace my Note 7. Will be bidding goodbye to my note 7 this friday.

1st choice initially was Mi Mix, but the astronomical prices and kinda turn me off.

Hence Mi Max is what I'm looking at now.

So where are you guys getting your Mi Max at? What's the best price and place I should look at?

Kindly advise.

Thanks!
