Redmi Note 13 4G cpu is so bad that it hasn't even caught up with Redmi note 10 4G

Samsung A15 4G > Redmi Note 13 4G
and if you need 5G
Samsung A25 5G > Redmi Note 13 5G

The one to avoid is Samsung A15 5G

Yes, xiaomi phones have been comparatively weirdly priced these few years. The variants are giving up chunk of performance in favor of power saving. Of course, this year or two isn't that bad.

Poco F5/Redmi Note 12 Turbo are good, you could get the latter at $330ish, I believe the price would drop a little more on next sale.
Poco x6/Redmi Note 13 Pro are alright, despite their performance metric only a tiny bit better than Poco X3 Pro of 3 years ago, the price is cheaper than that of Poco F5/Redmi Note 12 Turbo, also comparatively cheaper than Poco X3 Pro of 3 years ago.

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus is oddly priced, given that there's the cheaper Poco F5/Redmi Note 12 Turbo at better performance. The price range also hitting Poco X6 Pro/Redmi K70E.

Redmi Note 13 4G and 5G definitely weirdly priced, it is like trying to gaslight people help offload their inventory.

PS: According to the cheapest set I could find

Yeah the Note 13 series is them now trying to maximize their price gouging. We used to have some sort of price parity against their china prices, but no more

I agree Poco indeed have a few decently buyable phone, but i will attribute that to qualcomm and mediatek blessing them with 7+Gen2(F5) and D8300(X6P). But you look back to X6(non-pro) and M6's then suddenly bo hua again:
-M6 720p screen is belong straight to the bin.
-M6 Pro is $250 for G99 cpu while Samsung A15 also G99 can be had for $170
-X6, nothing functionally wrong with this phone but the price is too close to X6 pro, just exist to upsell the pro model

Very ironically their flagship Xiaomi 14 SG price is kinda fair lol

Oh if the Samsung A15 has the G99 then isn't that a much bettep's buy than the SD685?

But is it possible to find the Galaxy A15 with 8/256 GB to compare against the Redmi Note 13 8/256 GB...

Actually I'm open to any brand in the price range of around $200 to $250... any suggestions for the best deal would be most appreciated. No gaming, just social media and simple photo taking and smooth user interface will do... large screen preferable for watching videos though...

I always thought Redmi was the best deal... I bought the Redmi Note 10 Pro a year ago as a gift as it was the best deal for the price... now it seems that with every generation Xiaomi is taking a step back with the specs and upping the price...

Edit:
Samsung Galaxy A15 $165 G99 + 4/128
Poco M6 Pro $229 G99 8/256
Redmi Note 13 $259 SD685 8/256

redmi has lost its value-for-money tag for a few years already

poco took over, but even poco also recently raised prices
poco m5 was g99 for about $150, poco f4 was sd870 for below $300
now m6 series and f5 series not so cheap

suggest going to physical shop [challenger, popular, samsung, best denki, etc.] to try the samsung a15

if u find it "fast enough", then can consider that

street price quite cheap, but do avoid stores that sell mixture of local and export sets

Current 2024 Singapore $200-250 releases indeed quite weak, M6 Pro do seem tragically like the "best" if going solely for overall spec (since a15 6/8gb variant doesn't seem available in SG)

But if up budget abit in the $280 got a few other options (3.3 prices, 4.4 should be very likely to match if not even lower)

Yeah... I think for the Galaxy A15 with 4 GB RAM would make for a rather jerky user experience...

Thank you! Those phones look much better... however $280 is stretching it beyond the set budget... this is a gift so not too keen to go beyond $250... but I'll keep an eye for the 3.3 & 4.4 prices cos if it drops to slightly above $250 price range I think I can still justify the slight stretch... heh heh... thank you very much for the legwork...

A15 $170 is for 4+128GB, M6 Pro is 8+256GB. How to compare? Bump it up to 8+128GB, A15 is about $270.

That 8+128GB A15 is the 5G model using D6100+

amdk pricing reference:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CSB14R7J

SG only carry the 4GB G99 model, but the price diff for 4GB and 6GB model offered in other country is very negligible . For another 6gb>8gb can assume will be the same price but i think the 8gb 4G model is india only release

Doesn't change the fact the comparison is 4+128 vs 8+256. Now you want to bring in export set pricing without warranty? If SG only offer 4GB, why even compare their prices when the spec difference is so huge, also 8+128GB is found in shopee for about $270, that would be far better comparison, D6100+ or G99 both are more or less the same anyway.

And FYI, the amazon is USD not SGD, that make it at over S$200.

D6100+ has a 5G model on it and is pricey

Would the Honor X9b be relevant as compared to the Poco M6 Pro? SD 6 Gen 1 vs Helios G99?

I suppose the Honor X8b is out cos it uses the SD680 chipset...
