strangely my pc doesnt detect it but can see it charging
So pay full price but use less then full performance?

Charging only need the 5V from the PC. DO not need any driver or program.

but what i want is to use it as a mass storage device. i can plug in my previous samsung phone and transfer files

Disappointed... bought redmi note2 the redmi note3 came out... 3 months after official release.

Zzz as usual someone misleading. Yes you need to unlock your phone before connecting to computer if say using redmi note 2 for transfer as media player else you won't be able to access sd card and sometimes phone storage.
Zzz.... underclocking the cpu has no impact on the phone performance in this case as 1.3hz works fine on most games, have been tried and tested by many users....pls read up and do some check first before commenting...

I was looking at the tutorial. It only link to the stable rom for Redmi Note 2. Can I flash the global developer rom (5.12.10) from here?

Currently I am on China developer rom 5.10.08
No big deal you can use any rom version regardless if it is the latest or not. Just need to be a fastboot rom file can liao.
Since you jumping from china to global best is use flash all but backup data first. Refer to previous page, already left my instructions there XD

Not for Xiaomi I think. It may need the Miflash program.
Hey guys, intending to buy the note 2 from the local online store.. Anyone can share what's the cons on using this phone? If I read trough properly, the WhatsApp notification not showing until you open the app still happens right?

No prob with file transfer just plug in pc will auto detect
