And would the data on my phone be erased when i root it? How to back up? Can't seem to find any program to back it up! e.g. apple has itunes and samsung has samsung kries.

Backup is available on redmi devices internally; look under settings on your phone

try checking the options at the location below

I'm having the same problems with my wechat and line apps, but no problems with my whatsapp though, but mine is still unresolved

Yes, i experienced it. Very lag while charging especially using GPS.

Singtel version is the same as sold by xiaomi, 2gb ram

I was deciding between Redmi Note 4G and Xperia C3 just a few weeks ago. In the end, I went with Redmi because it is the better spec device and it has support for 802.11ac. Xperia C3 is slimmer, lighter and better design (IMO).
