https://support.you.co/hc/en-us/articles/360012180253-Why-is-my-transaction-shown-as-Pending-

Why is my transaction shown as Pending?

A pending transaction is an authorised payment that's still awaiting confirmation from Mastercard. All newly made transactions will first be classified as pending. The funds will be held until Mastercard has given its confirmation of the transaction. All pending transactions will be completed or reversed within 8 days.
it's only for BKK MRT, others were immediate. so don't understand or maybe only MRT payment gateway do batch evey few days

Coz many pple use credit cards for recurring payments... like subscriptions to monthly services, booking hotels which charges only after the free cancelation period, or car rental that need to hold on to a CC for other charges after the user returns the car... etc... so it is unrealistic for users to monitor such dates and unlock it on the day for the merchant to charge to the card...
recurring, subscriptions or hold are prearranged transactions right? so shouldn't be affected by card lock. exception could be easily done at bank side.

if full lock can just ask for card suspension instead

The bank will not know what transactions u want to allow once u lock the card... it defeats the purpose of the lock if allowed... and it is highly disputable if they still allow transactions to go through while being locked...

lock means no transactions except prearranged/recurring transaction made while card is unlock. don't see any conflicts with such arrangements. i think it will helps prevent fraudsters drastically

Lock means lock... if they still allowed transactions to go through even if it is prearranged or recurring transaction to go through... it will be damn messy if there are disputes...

for example... if i am subscribe to Apple TV... but the fraud is on the App store in app purchase... but i lock the card liao... how the bank knows the charges is from Apple TV or in app purchase?

ya can dispute but troublesome as maybe oversea when fraud transaction happened. also need to constantly monitor, no peace of mind.

sometimes lose card just wanted to quickly lock card via apps. I'm sure u experience the hassle of going thru helpline just to get it done.

and how many minutes during waking hours do we actually use cards? less than 30mins or even less.

by locking outside these hours makes it more difficult to fraudsters & i believe will greatly reduce such fraud transactions
Imo credit card has been using this workflow since it exist... Any dispute can be filed as a chargeback which merchant has to prove the cardholder has process the transaction at their POS... so for online purchases which merchant never use OTP confirmation, most likely merchant will lose the case when card holder file the dispute... and I been using credit card for like past 20 years, think this is the 1st time i kanna fraud which I need to file dispute... so convenience wise, most people will choose credit card over debit card...

The pro of having prepaid card is that you can choose not to load any cash inside until you need to use it... the locking function is just a feature which is not a need imo... :)

why messy & disputes for prearranged?
just checked SG banks already have some form of lock via apps without affecting recurring & subscriptions
for example... if i am subscribe to Apple TV... but the fraud is on the App store in app purchase... but i lock the card liao... how the bank knows the charges is from Apple TV or in app purchase?
prearranged will have matching references from both sides no?

but i thought in app purchase fraud need to get apple to check since need to go thru apple payment gateway right? can u elaborate more about in app fraud?

not true. just checked dbs & uob have some form of locking without affecting recurring. can't find info for ocbc or trust (probably same as sc)

anyway i believe card lock can help reduce fraudulent transactions. and can be implemented by bank without affecting recurring / subscription.

Banks will never know if your in app purchases are legit or not... what matching references they will have? If i am playing and buying Candy Crush credits previously... these are allowed coz they got history reference... then what if i buy new games buy their credits will not go through if locked?

Dun be mistaken... i agree the Lock function is possibly one of the best features for cards... especially for debit cards... but for credit cards i am just not so sure if the banks and apps are smart enough to know what to lock out and what to allow if it is in LOCK mode... unless specific conditions are laid out very clearly...

Personally... if i press the LOCK button... i prefer it to lock out all transactions...

There are reasons why banks are not implementing such lock functions in all their cards... especially credit cards...

I also checked DBS and UOB... DBS seems to have some form of locking mechanism... but where did u find out it does not affect recurring charges or subscriptions?

UOB not really lock function... it is the Fraud button... which i believe will block all transactions...

it's not leaked by SP for sure... the hackers are randomly generating from some codes...

My UOB KF card gotten last dec also kanna fraudulent transaction(ChatGPT type) in April... and the only merchant that I used that card was Scoot... LOL...

Anyway UOB has launch investigation and send me a replacement card after I file fraud dispute with them....

Just check your statement or transactions from app frequently will be good... or activate notification for every transaction made if the bank/service provider offer....
Since on cards, my posb debit, never used, have also kena twice.
Cancel both times.

new games fall under new transaction & not previous the prearranged right? anyway I'm sure bank able to manage security portion better than us

there are different level of Lock. like uob there is temporary & permanent lock. dbs allows customized payment, means u can block/lock payments by category (i.e online, oversea etc)
I also checked DBS and UOB... DBS seems to have some form of locking mechanism... but where did u find out it does not affect recurring charges or subscriptions?
it wasn't clear so need to clarify. i think maybe ABS didn't set any guidelines, so it's probably up to bank discretion on how they will implement.

but what I'm saying is we can have lock card with/without interrupting recurring or subscription. it's up to the bank if they wants to implement for customers.

uob temporary lock still allows apple/google pay. they have permanent lock to block everything.

did u bring out your card or keep at home. no use doesn't means card can't be skim. card skimmers just need to be close to your card to do the job.

Cards only used for withdrawal at ATM.
No other purpose.
With Utrip, they quite power, can put inactive with switch of an app.

Since when new card will have the same nbrs as the previous card? Especially when it has been compromised.
