I had used before AC2887 philips before.
It is not helpful for my sinus issues when I enter my room.
My right side of the nose will get blocked in the morning or at night when I attempt to go to bed.
Once I step out of the room, my sinus issue disappeared.
Is there any air purifier that can specificially address sinus issues?
I read about the H13 filter as well. Is it useful?
Update:
I just got the sqair filter
1,2 still ok not too noisy
3, starting to get noisy (can treat as white noise)
Air con room?
One thing i dont see mentioned much here is cleanliness of air con filter, blower and general cleaning. Assuming it's an air con-ed room. Very important.
Just checking this thread......used to post a fair bit here in the AP thread.
Bro noinimod is correct. Hey, noinimod, if i am not wrong you also do post in the DIY AC cleaning thread right, seen your nick there before. lol
First and foremost gotta take care of all sources of "pollution", then you take care of filtration. The AP can only do so much esp if you are not talking about 3-4 units gunning in medium speed thus capable of doing like 6-10 air changes per hour....or for that matter 1 big unit (eg Samsung AX90) capable of doing like 1000 m3/hr CADR but switched on to 250 m3/hr in the interest of lowering the dB SPL.
Of coz it still can work, but do not be surprised that it won't be 100%, esp if your allergy is really serious and sensitive type. If you are just mildly allergic, there is a chance that the Air purifier alone can help a fair bit, and then you can don't clean the Aircon FCU as frequently. So, it depends.
If you want near 100% remission of the allergy esp if you are more than just mildly sensitive, gotta take care of the AC FCU, and also run your air purifier(s).
For us we run 2 pcs (used to run 3, the Samsung AX40, Sharp KC-840 and a Mfresh M8088)
BTW, my family my kids wife and i have allergic rhintis, so does my dad (prob he predisposed this genetically to me, and then me to my kids).
Actually i think past few tens of pages before this i did post a fair bit regarding cleanliness of the FCU, and i did post some studies about the mold particles being blown out in the first 2 hours.
The FCU is a very major contributor to allergic rhintis. It probably is more so than the bedding/pillows, even though the bedding/pillow is so much closer with regards to the allergens. Different allergens though, AC i mainly mold particles (a bit of dust mite droppings) while bedding/pillow is dust mite droppings.
I believe dust mite droppings rather difficult to "aerosolise" too, coz too heavy/big. Mold particles can get pretty small, and with the help of FCU fan it can easily "aerosolise". Note i put quotes, i dont have a good word for it so i just use aerosolise, as in "able to fly and hang around".
Anyway, long story cut short, you gotta DIY clean your FCU once every 2-3 months. I clean mine every 2 months, and if i try to rubberband it to 3 months plus, very obvious our allergies would act up and become more and more serious. I and kids will kena first, then my wife.
Initially we were still doing those wash curtains change / wash beddings and use anti dust mite undersheets and what nots. But not totally effective.
I can tell you, aircon FCU, wash 2-3 months (must be jet wash, with evaporator coil cleaner that is safe for aluminum) is best. DIY is coz to save $$$, else you'd be paying $60-80 per FCU. Is a decent jet wash, for eg similar to a chemical wash, not those $15-30 general servicing kinda wash. But the difference is not to use alkaline coil cleaners which screws up the aluminum coil, but rather evaporator coil cleaners which are pH neutral and not alkaline.
ps. Even within the chemical wash packages, some AC techs just do a slipshod job even though it costs $60-80 per FCU and skip cleaning the what I call the back coil. That is why some of us DIY wash.......actually that some of us is a good few hundred pax in the DIY AC thread, so not just a few.
Bonus thread.

Airborne total bacterial and total fungal concentrations measured in a seminar room prior to and after switching on the air conditioner. The room was surveyed 4 times, and average values are presented. The outside levels of total bacteria, total fungi on malt extract agar (MEA), and total fungi on DG-18 were 837, 762, and 646 CFU m 3 , respectively.
