The moment you play 3-way active, coaxials and active sub become a waste of everybody’s time. Want to play 3-way, invest in a proper sub, even a lowly Rockford P1 will be far superior to an active sub.

its true. once go active the underseat active sub is practically non existent and the rear coaxials is muted.

wasted money on this 2.

really advisable to go full passive sub instead of going thru active sub then realised that it wont help much and have to go one round to change to passive sub again....

cables is really quite subjective, my personal opinion... unless u can really hear the difference if not i think a basic tchernov will do good enough or the choices u listed shld be good enough. like u say micro P is not here not there not really considered high end... so a decent cable shld be good enough.

i got the tchernov blue cables which i think i shld have just went for the basic green and spend the extra on cutting the door board to put the component speakers out. some say green no good, at least go for blue, some say no need to go for blue, green will be good enough....

Personally I would say try to source for Hisago PCOCC cables if you’re able to. They are very decent upper-mid range cables. There’s also Hisago 6-Nines if you are extreme ( ) but super rare because they are supposed to be out of production.

I try to avoid Flavour-of-The-Month stuff - including cables - heavily pushed by the distributors to the audio shops. When they are pushing a particular brand they make it sound like it’s the £@€#ing greatest thing since sliced bread ... then when this brand falls out of favour and they push another brand, they start saying that brand they sold you is inferior, this 1 is better blah blah blah

business comes first mah, after you are done they still need business to survive, and we can zhao liao.

market seems to be favouring only that certain brand and different installer will try not to clash with each other and do their own brands.

Hi Everyone!

i have just upgraded by stock audio to the following on my Forester:

Pioneer Z9150BT
Micro P 2-way 5 Series (stock position)
Mosconi Gladen One A/B amp 130.4 - 130w/channel 4ohm
2 front door 2layer soundproof
active sub Venom brand
speaker cabling no change
Free rca cable dunno what brand

i intend to upgrade to:

1)Add Micro P 5.8 wide midrange speaker
2)Add Tweeter pod style or A pillar customs for both tweeter and Midrange
3)Trunk floor soundproof and 2 read door soundproof
4)Replace rear coaxial speakers.
5) Add DSP and 2 channel amp for upgrade to 3-way


I find that the Tchernov cables quite expensive. (eg. 16awg standard 1 SC $7.50/metre, 14awg standard 2 SC $15/metre)

A) I am thinking i could get the cheaper Beldens/Canares/Monoprice for this lower -mid priced setup since Micro P series 5 is not really high end. Any comments?

B) What other Brand RCA and speaker cables do anyone recommend? (similar or slightly higher price to Tchernov is ok). Will Van Den Hul be overkill? haha

Many installer keep saying rear coaxial speaker no need because we listen from the front or just "luap" a basic ones at least better than stock ones.
Does it mean any other brand Coaxial is good enough since Micro P do not have Coaxial speakers.

C) Do we need to source for one coaxial to match the sound of the micro P 5 series? Any recommendation?

consider cutting door board and customize the speakers and add 2 more layers to the front door also.

Hi all, my first time accessing and reading some of the interest in in-car entertainment here.

I also read that some were commenting on the older days of sgcaraudio and the meetups that were organised. You may want to know that sgcaraudio is still very much alive but it has since moved from forum presence to FB group, chat apps and actual monthly meetups.

The regular folks from sgcaraudio are still around and some are still investing parts of their money into ICE, mostly Sound Quality type of setups.

Currently, sgcaraudio monthly meetups are planned and details are posted in the sgcaraudio group page. If you are interested, you may join their FB group and stay in touch with the small but friendly group of sgcaraudio folks there.

What speakers cables would you recommend?

Personally I would say try to source for Hisago PCOCC cables if you’re able to. They are very decent upper-mid range cables. There’s also Hisago 6-Nines if you are extreme ( ) but super rare because they are supposed to be out of production.

Yes. But likely need to go active or incorporate dsp.

Probably should start with, what speakers are you on right now for your 2-way, and work from there

nope, dsp not needed. but passive is mostly for 2 ways, usually speakers + tweeters.

u can add dsp to a 2 way also to run active 2 ways, just change the speaker cables.

Um, no ... the thing is you’re asking which midrange to go with your 2-way, I’m asking what your existing speakers are 1st. You tell me they are ”passive speakers” isn’t the answer.

Depending on what brand & model your existing speakers are, you’d get different suggestions on what midrange to go with it. But I do not rule out the possibility that your existing brand & model may be not worth going 3-way with.

I am on German MAESTRO Car Speakers Epic Line EFS 5008 which is my 2 way

4 channel amp from Ground zero

Um, no ... the thing is you’re asking which midrange to go with your 2-way, I’m asking what your existing speakers are 1st. You tell me they are ”passive speakers” isn’t the answer.

Depending on what brand & model your existing speakers are, you’d get different suggestions on what midrange to go with it. But I do not rule out the possibility that your existing brand & model may be not worth going 3-way with.

u are using the gz dsp + amps integrated? by your setup u shld be already on 2 ways active if u are running dsp+amps and speakers.

to go 3 ways u just need another 2ch amp + mid, its best that u add a decent boot sub also, another 2ch amp + sub, wanna do its better to do all one shot, save the tuning time, labor cost.


most probably your german maestro has to go, get a slightly better 3 way system if u wanna go 3 ways, just my 2cts.

is it silly for me to put my German mastero behind to replace my back speakers.. and get a 3 way system in front
