Ah Foon does Focal just fine. He has Chuan Sing and Audioedge experience. And his price is nett ... Chuan Sing you best take note the price agreed on is not the final price you pay, after install finish time to pay and collect car then tell you that the quoted price is before GST.

A number of the installers will do ”Flavour of The Month” speakers that are pushed very heavily by the distributors as the best thing since sliced bread ... once the distributors stop promoting them the installers also stop using them.

Same thing with Danish Acoustics. Same thing with Hybrid Audio. Same thing with EB Acoustics (aka EB TEC) ... etc etc. Only a handful of brands have real staying power. I’m not holding my breath to see if this Audible Physics can become 1 of these.

On one hand, was hoping Focal distro will have some promotion when I install. On the other hand, I feel like PI in the speaker I want and get them to install.

But going by second route, I'm afraid that most installer will just do a half f* job.

Focals are known to have counterfeits, so you’d best be careful where you get them from. Stick with a reputable dealer.

Ah Roy has good ears. I’ll give him that. His charges are on the higher side though, but he does quality work.

It may be a personal thing, but I feel that he kinda talks down to people, especially if you’re someone considering switching to him from another installer. 1 of the reasons why I didn’t in the end.

Hi all,

sgcaraudio folks hold car audio meetup regularly. I understand that there is one this coming 24th May at AMK area.

You may consider attending the meetup to have some of your ICE questions answered and at the same time, have the opportunities to audit some of the kakis' audio systems.

Most of them are into Sound Quality and they have wide experiences on audio setups and local installers. Questions asked here may well be answered in face to face sessions like the meetup over kopi.

You may search for sgcaraudio in Facebook to know more and join the meetups.

Regards

Mosconi’s gain in popularity was after I’d exited the competition scene. Sinfoni setups were around in the last couple I’d participated in but this Quartorigo range is new to me. So is the Utopia M. So I’m not the best person to advise on these, sorry :o

In general though, Focals pair well with Italian amps. 1 of the nicest Be 3-way setups I’d heard was paired with the humble Steg K-series amps ... if I remember correctly that was a fellow Civic FD club member and won 2nd place in an IASCA heat I’d participated in.

hi guys,

hope someone can advice me on this.

HU: Factory stock (got reverse camera & Auto Android)
Amp: Ar Audio KS 300.4 (4 channel)
DSP: Dayton Audio DSP-408 4x8 DSP
Front speakers: Infinity Kappa 60CSX 6.5" 2-Way Component
Rear: No speakers
SubW: Pioneer TS-SWX2502 10 inch Shallow-Mount Pre-Loaded Enclosure

Infinity speakers is 2.5 ohm.
Pioneer sub is 4 ohm.

Which is a better option?

1) to bridge 2 channels on my ARC AUDIO amp to drive the sub and the other 2 channels to drive the infinity kappas component

2) Get an amp to drive the sub, use Arc Audio to drive the Infinity Kappas ( 2 channels for mid range & 2 channels for tweeters) If I get an amp, is this Alpine MRV-M500 Mono V-Power Digital Amplifier ok?

i am not sure if choose option 1, to bridge the amp to drive the sub, will it cost problem to the amp, because there is 4ohm sub & 2.5 speakers ?

thanks for any help here.

Both are great amps. And you wont go wrong with either.

in terms of which speakers, each of it would have their unique sound signatures. I prefer the MPs as it is more natural compared to the focals.

your four channel amp will already be used for your mids and tweeters. 1 channel per speaker. left and right are 2 speakers.

you would still need a seperate amp for the sub.

imho no.1 will be complicate things and you waste your dsp because dsp suppose to adjust crossover/time alignment/gain of 4 front speakers individually. If you drive one channel for high and midbass will only have one time alignment adjustment and you will need to install back your passive crossover. Power division between 2.5ohm speakers and 4ohm sub will be another question mark.

No.2 will be the obvious choice to go.

Alpine MRV-M500 Mono V-Power Digital Amplifier 4ohm is only 300W RMS but should be enough to drive your passive sub but u better double check with the seller.

yeah... you got a point, i didnt see the dsp managing the TA & Cross over.

Looks like option 2 is the way to go. Alpine MRV-M500 Mono is 300w and the Sub is 300w rated. Shall i get a more powerful mono amp to drive the sub?
