If you'd said you were wrapping with suede then I guess I can understand why you'd be able to cover with 1 whole big piece. I still thought you were talking about full grain or top grain leather (or their PVC / PU counterparts) ... good luck trying to do that using these.

Actually, with suede - and with fabric as well - you should have a cushioning / foam layer in between the A-pillar and the material ... maybe the thinnest grade black one that audio shops use for miscellaneous fixes, to wrap crossovers, etc, and even to use as a brush to apply elephant glue / contact cement.

Are you going to apply soundproofing on the underside of the A-pillars? Foon did that for the A-pillars I got from him ... Soundwerkz didn't. If you do you'd want to use 1 of the highest grade ones that won't melt after many hours in the hot sun. I'd go with Dynamat or StP ... I wouldn't want 1 of the Korean brands, I'd read several cases over the years of people saying their Korean brand door soundproofing became melted bitumen.

:s13: I'm mostly eye-power actually. Simple stuff I can do myself ... more complex I can tell you what needs to be done because I would spend entire days at the shops studying what Soundwerkz and Foon were doing on my competition setups, but you call me to do, I don't have the tools, the space nor the patience to :s34:

proposed config for Boxster:

- Pioneer AVH-Z5050BT (14W RMS x 4)
- DLS Ultimate UP36i - 3-way component (with 6.5" woofer)

1. for better bass: should i go for 7"-8" woofers instead of the 6.5"?
2. should i add an amp?

thanks in advance.
You like the DLS sound have to go big or go home, no Scandinavia no talk. You want to play 3-way have to look at Alpine if you want DVDHU.

You need to add amps. Not amp. Plural. Don't want to add amps don't bother looking at DLS, waste your own time.

Do yourself a favour, go to New Generation at Ubi and talk to Cartoon, no one in their right mind gets DLS anywhere else.

Hi Bro, how about Micro Precision? Who is good in tuning this speaker and which series would u recommend for a mid level setup?

When you mention ampS and not amp, do u mean the number of channels or units? How about using multichannel like a 6 channel amps for a 3 way, of cos u'll need another amp if u have a sub.

Btw, are u participating in this year's EMMA?

i am an ICE fan too.. recently just installed my setup on my civic fd haha.. ICE is really dying in SG man.. damn sad..

Ermm not really....
Chuan Sing, Xtremez, Foon Audio and some other well known workshop doing very well...

These days people tend to go for European brands....
Gone are the days for American brands like soundstream, JBL and Rockford...

Micro P I would only go with Soundwerkz and no one else.

There are people who will tell you that Chuan Sing are the true masters of Micro P and their number of trophies over the years won on Micro P setups would attest this claim, but you will not get to hear the best that these speakers have to offer with them, because their competition-winning tuning settings are a closely-guarded secret. Back when I was still in the competition scene, if you joined under the Chuan Sing banner you were not allowed to present your own car to the judges, you'd have to let their staff present it. And right after the judges audition your car they'd wipe out these settings as they drive your car away to the finished-audition parking lots. There'd apparently been people who'd competed under their banner put their entire setup up for sale right after the competition because they were disgusted by this practice, and the disappointment that after spending 5-figure amounts with them they as the owners never got to hear it.

Micro P I personally wouldn't settle for anything less than Serie 7, but that's just me :s34: However, Serie 7 is a 2-way system, so people looking to go 3-way either use a Serie 5 midrange or they pony up for a popular combination which is to upgrade the tweeters to Serie Z and also get the Serie Z midrange while retaining the Serie 7 midbass.

I happen to have a pair of NOS (new-old-stock) Serie Z tweeters I can sell you if you're interested, if you decide to go the Micro P route. I bought but did not install in my current car so it'd been gathering dust (the box anyways, the tweeters are safe :s13: ) in my cupboard for years and years  And I guess this answers your question about EMMA. I'd been out of the competition scene since IASCA died.

5 / 6 channel amps are almost always huge monsters, and quite honestly I felt none of these go well with either DLS or Micro P, except for maybe TRU Technology's multi-channel amp.

is Foon ok?
Foon for DLS? Not that cannot, but srsly. No one knows DLS better than Cartoon.

Build workmanship-wise, Foon is a good installer and his workmanship is good no doubt. Hell, he was my installer after Soundwerkz, after all. But I personally feel his style is more suited for Jap makes, his builds more suited for B&B type of cars. Boxster you're probably looking for something a bit more "luxe", and while he can most definitely give you a good build, it may not have that "luxe" factor for your car.

Hello. I have a set of Micro Precision 3 series and only 5 series mid, and a Eton 10” sub. Dekitted some time ago.

I’m hoping for an installer who will help me install into my current car. Any reliable installer?

I had bad experience with a rather popular installer in Serangoon. Not gonna quote names, but I will want an installer who does not try to rip me off. Honest installer with honest rates and will not overcharge me because I have existing kit.

Thanks guys!

Actually I think once you say Serangoon, people more or less know who already :o Let me guess ... you were quoted the price, you found it agreeable and let them do your car, then when it came time to pay you found they added GST to the previously-stated price? ;)

I'll still say the same thing, go to Soundwerkz and speak with Kelvin about what he can do for you, although to be honest I don't really think you'd need a branded installer / tuner Series 3.

Thanks a lot buddy. Appreciate it.

It wasn’t about the GST (even though it happened :) ). Anyway, I will let bygones be bygones. Treat it as lesson learnt.
