Thanks for replying..
I am nuts to sound.. my current car comes with bose speakers and it sound really good. My next car comes with Sony xav ax100.. I am also not sure can it have enough power..
HU > crossovers > speakers running passive, there's still enough power for your speakers to work. Is it enough to bring the best out of whatever speakers you buy, that is another matter ;)

Can't remember which make(s) come(s) with them, but just so there's no misunderstanding, you are referring to factory-fitted Bose speakers that came with the car when it was bought brand new yes? The good news is that you can get at the very least as good, or more likely better sound quality with $500-$600 range component speakers, no need $1k ;) Although depending on individual ego, it may be bad news to learn that those Bose speakers aren't as high end as you thought :s13:

I got my Focal PS165F at $650 inclusive of installation from Chuan Sing and it is value for money for the sound quality you get from the speakers. The speakers is manufactured in France.

Yup $650 nett and I'm using a 4 channel Blaupunkt THA475 PNP class D amp to drive it.

I'm changing to Mosconi One 120.4 soon.

I plan to go for PS165F / FX with pionner active sub with amps think cost around $1k+++ guess need to wait for bonus.

Personally I'd say in today's context Focal the best person to go to is Ah Foon. Ah Foon was previously a worker at Chuan Sing and then Audioedge's tao chiew before he struck out on his own ... he is more than qualified to handle Focal.

Trust me, find a Steg K-series amp and use copper speaker wire (Focal's own-branded speaker wire is copper, btw ;)) with Focals, don't use silver wire. Thank me later ;)

Is there another Ah Foon? :s22:

Anyways, you're already running speakers with amp, you pair with active sub you won't feel the kick. Even a Rockford P1 will serve you better than an active sub.

I've used under seat subwoofer and it sound awful especially the I play Kitaro music. I ditched the under seat sub and move on to passive subwoofer setup and never look back.

Need some advice.... looking for options to upgrade my stock audio...

- New KM Odyssey.
- Not changing stock HU.
- Not getting sub.
- Weekend playing kids music. The stock audio now is quite even front and rear and I could actually set fader to 0. With my ICE in previous cars, I have front 2-way and rear coax. The problem is the EQ was tuned to the 2-way and the rear would sound horrible with that same EQ, and naturally the fader would be set to be very frontal. So when I turn up volume for them to hear the front 2-way properly from the 2nd/3rd row, the front will become quite loud to driver and v-com, and v-com is exceptionally sensitive to loud music. This is what I want to avoid, meaning I would prefer to have a more even sound across front and rear such that I just need to turn up/down volume and that's it. No need for fader nor EQ adjustment every other weekend. I want simple, straightforward - just turn up/down volume.

Options gathered after visiting Foon:

1. Same set of 2-way for front and rear + amp
2. 2-way of my choice for front + anything for rear + DSPcumAMP

Speaker option:
Focal KX2
Focal 165FX
Micro Precision 3 series
Micro Precision 5 series

Amp option (limited by physical size):
Mosconi D2 for option 1.
Helix P6 DSP cum Amp for option 2.

The Helix was proposed so that can EQ individual speaker and no need to get 2 sets of the same 2-way in order to sound similar such that I could maintain fader at 0 or slight tilt to the front, resulting in having to at most turn up volume a little bit and the kids can hear properly from the rear speakers and the front would not be too loud.

My past ICE:
1. Focal KRX2 + FP4.75
2. Rainbow SAC265 + Sinfoni Presto 2ch
3. Rainbow KX165 coax throughout

Budget.... mainly would depend on which speaker i go for so don't really have a fixed budget in mind at the moment, but rather want to see which config is a better option before deliberating on which speaker to go for.

Unfortunately unlike hifi/headfi, it's not easy to really go listen/demo on the options before deciding which to get. All my ICE were blind hoots anyway. Just had to read up as much as possible on user feedback and try to draw references and deduce the sound sig.

Appreciate any advice/suggestion! If anyone has experience with the listed options, please do share their sound sig/characteristics and comparisons if any. :)

Android HU

I installed an Android HU (Dasaita v600) with a legacy set of 2 ways - SEAS Lotus midbass, Morel Supremo (mounted on pods), Mosconi 120.4 and Helix DSP Mk.2 with Pioneer underseat woofer.

Sound is better than stock HU with top notch radio reception. Any deficiencies with sound quality is currently related to source music (poor quality MP3s) and a lack of proper tuning on the DSP. :s13:

Having Google Maps (or any other mapping app) along with Spotify is priority for me. Also helps knowing I can connect apps which can connect via OBD to display vehicle information. :s12:

No comment on your HU, I only know that it's a China brand :o

How did you decide on this speaker combination? I find this a rather interesting combination, because the sound signature of Morel and Seas Lotus are ... well I wouldn't exactly call it on opposing ends of the sound signature spectrum, but still, people who like the Morel sound typically aren't too crazy about the Seas sound, and vice versa. If you like the Morel sound but find the midbass lacking and feel a need to change it to something else, I'd say Hybrid Audio's L6SE are a better match with the Supremos.

Thanks!

Doesn't look like a brand that's available in Singapore. Any other midbass I can consider?

Looking at the Brax Matrix range...

Hybrid Audio was quite heavily marketed locally around 2009-2010 period when I was on my way out of the IASCA circuit, in fact I was supposed to join 1 more round with Hybrid Audio's L1 Pro SE Limited Edition tweeters (pre-production model, hand-matched pair, set #21 of 150 ... production model later named L1 Pro SE R2) which I still own and am selling if anyone is interested :s34: Not sure about after because after I changed car in 2010 I didn't play anymore even though I was still stockpiling on Master-level gear ... saw the photos of my Brax Graphic Edition amps? I'm also selling those if anyone is interested :s34:

But there should still be some dealers out there with Hybrid Audio speakers. Try asking Ah Foon.
