So I have been shopping around for new setup..

Was being offered two different set of setup:

1: Focal PS165FX + Pioneer DEQ-S1000A + Pioneer active sub
2: Focal PS165FX + Focal FPX 4.800 + P 25 F

Both at the same price, need some advise from the experts in here. I would think that option 2 would give me better bass while option 1 will have better SQ? Sorry if my terms isn't right haha.

Also, for option 1, do I still need to change to aftermarket HU since there is a Pioneer DSP already?

yeah... you got a point, i didnt see the dsp managing the TA & Cross over.

Looks like option 2 is the way to go. Alpine MRV-M500 Mono is 300w and the Sub is 300w rated. Shall i get a more powerful mono amp to drive the sub?

The rating seems matching and i believe Pioneer sub are not that difficult to drive. Pioneer probably have a matching amp for the subwoofer as well if you are still worried you do not have enough power. In any case, more power is always better to have.

Sorry i am not experienced enough for passive sub topic. Maybe ask around a few shops for advice

1. for this option you might as well change to a pioneer HU. DEQ-S1000A probably has a little more advance SQ adjustment than an pioneer HU only.
just get the pioneer Hu with the speakers and a active sub. Try other active sub instead of pioneer sub unless u really like boomy sound.

2. imho i will go with option 2 first for better bass sound and upgrade with a real DSP/amp combo later on.

Please forget about the Pioneer "DSP" and get a pioneer HU which already comes with 3 way crossover/ time alignment/ 13 band EQ adjustment.

Which is why I have been scratching my head. I've told the installer that a Pioneer Z9250bt HU will be installed but he insisted that the Pioneer DSP is still needed.

I’m not good with integrated HU expansion options, simply because I’d never done it before But if I am going to retain integrated HU, there are better - or should I say, real o) - processors out there than the Pioneer DEQ

None of your options are particularly appealing to me, to be honest, even if you go with the Pioneer DVDHU

Adding the DEQ does nothing much for the DVDHU. The DEQ is also 13-band equalizer same as the DVDHU, except it adds an 31-band virtual equalizer accessible only through their app. It’s still Front, Rear and Sub out same as the DVDHU. Not ideal for going active in future.

P.S. the P25F sub is 300w nominal, 600w max. The amp you’re looking at bridged 2 channels is 370w. Can drive is can drive, but personally I’d be looking for something with a bit more juice.

If you're looking to do this upgrade for improvement in sound, don't bother.

You really want improvement, change from your current 1 to at least P99RS if not ODR, ahboh change from your current 1 to at least Alpine D800 if not F1, ahboh Clarion D2

Uhh ... why would you expect to not have to re-tune? The moment a HU is unplugged from power source, or your car battery flat, your settings also all gone what

Anyway, if you play ODR or P99RS, play F1 or D800 + H800, or play D2 ... this type is do RTA already.

First and foremost, you need to define your end objective and the budget. Reason being, it can be as cheap as a few hundred to tens of thousands. If it is decent 3 way with basic soundproofing, I guess it would be around 5k.

Best is to listen to different setups on different budgets to get a feel. Some people are more sensitive (or should I say more musically inclined) to sound would require higher end systems.

If your objective if soundproofing is to isolate the sound and make it more comfortable ride, it would require a full soundproofing. The floors would the most important, together with doors, wheels, roof, etc. But if the objective is just to have better acoustics, the basic soundproofing would be the doors.

when it comes to ice upgrade it can be any/all of the following:
- Head Unit
- Speakers(2 way, 3way, subwoofer, rear, etc)
- DSP
- Amplifiers
- Cables and Wires (Speaker Cables, RCA/Optics)

Any garage or workshop recommend for this? Lastly last mission will be ICE which the most fun part. Getting the quietness is what I want for now.

Look at the undercarriage spray.

Usually Conti cars come with this sprayed on at the factory, some Japanese cars do as well but mostly no. I would recommend you look at this as your 1st step, especially if you’re not doing it for ICE.

try to do a full soundproofing first. it will save time and perhaps some discounts if all done together. Generally, for best effect, you will need the foam and the metal sheets. The downtime could be at least 2 days.

You should listen to different brands and models of speakers within your budget. Each speaker has different characteristics. For instance, it is broadly classified by bright vs warm.

If your budget is on a 1k speaker (such as the sinfoni), very often, these speakers work best with amplifiers. You need to factor it in as well.
