My airties set is acting up.

Turned it off over the weekend as was away. Came home, turned on and the 5Ghz light continuously red now.

Did not shift the units whatsoever. Tried rebooting both airties units. At first, it blinks green on the 5Ghz and then goes red eventually.

There is line of sight between both units and despite the red light, I can still surf on the 5Ghz band.

So, does this mean the unit is failing?

Hi marquez,

Samsung Connect Home does not support wired backhaul.

Does samsung connect home support wired backhaul?

Hi trickle_on,

Can you try moving the two units closer together to see if the light returns to green?

Solid red on 5GHz channel indicates that the wireless connection between the two units is weak.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've placed the units right next to each other and the 5Ghz indicator still blinks red.

thanks renfred89.

I reset one of the sets to factory default and repaired with the wired set. This solved the issue.

Really odd that a reset would be the solution.

Maybe it's due to 5Ghz interference?

Perhaps you can try resetting them?

Hello guys,

Dont mind me posting here uh :D Need some advice from the gurus here. I'm currently on Singtel 1Gbps plan.

Here's the speedtest result (from speedtest.net) that I got:
Download: 290.42Mbps
Upload: 213.94 Mbps (Couldnt post link since i'm new)
This result is run from my computer desktop.

1. My computer is connected to my 2nd unit of Askey Mesh (via ethernet cable cat5e)
2. My 1st Askey unit is at the living room and is connected to the Aztech router (FG7003 GRV - J). The 1st Askey unit and the 2nd unit is about 10m apart.
3. Both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz lights on the Askey Mesh are green and stable.
4. I have turned off Wifi on my router in case it interferes with the Mesh units.
5. My computer has Gigabit port and theoretically should be able to support the speed.

So my question is, why am I only achieving this speed?
Any suspects of where the bottleneck is?

I recently just checked the hardware of Askey Wifi mesh units and it appears that the LAN port is 10/100Mbps. Could this be the culprit? Hope to seek some advice. Thanks in advance guys! And if you all have any questions about the Askey units do feel free to ask!

LAN port of askey should be gigabit.

The bottle neck is between the askey nodes. In wifi, there is no way you can achieve close to 1gbps over wifi, especially on mesh systems. You can try bringing the nodes closer together, the system will automatically select a better channel for the wireless backhaul.

Thanks for the fast reply and advice! That indeed could be the explanation for the speed.

Just to clarify, I just double confirmed with the hardware on their official site. Its stated as 2 x 10/100Mbps LAN Ports on the PDF of ASKEY-AP5100W Wireless Mesh. Or isit Gigabit but I misunderstood the meaning? Sorry I couldnt paste the link here.

Hi all,

For future requests on the firmware update for your WiFi Mesh Airties, kindly drop us a private message with the following details:

(1) Subscriber's NRIC or Singnet ID

The primary unit of the WiFi Mesh must be connected to the Singtel-issued router for our backend team to update the firmware remotely.

If you're using a third party router, do drop us a message as well.

Hi sweeyih,

The WiFi Mesh Airties cannot use different SSID for 2.4GHz & 5GHz.

Thank you.

"Until your post count is 10 you will be able to send PMs to Staff only"

We just renew our plan, thought Singtel will give onr & new router but Singtel shop asked us to reuse old ont & router, very upset. My brother new house got onr & new router, we planed to connect AirTies & PC directly to onr, can we request to replace our ont with onr?

Thank you.

If you're using ont, you'll continue to use ont until your district is ready to migrate to onr. Router change is only if it's faulty or you're currently using an old model. Which model of the router r u using?
