isit true that TD is bad?
i am tempted to register but the bad reviews held me back.
I see, got the chart and flexible part.. they should just make both flexible lolErm, the indicator depends on the chart that you are using.
If you're using daily time frame, the 200 period will be based on days.
If you're using 5 minutes time frame, the 200 period will be based on 5mins.
And that's when the flexible grid/charts come into play.
In 1 screen, you can set up a few candlestick chart. On the left side, u can use daily bar, on the right side, you can use minute bar. It's up to you to customize!
And the difference between flexible grid and chart is, flexible grid allows you to place your chart in a more flexible manner. Like you can have, 2 on the left 3 on the right.
As for chart, you can't exactly 'customise' the size of each chart.
Hard to explain via words. Will be better if u google for images.

Can you share where you read the bad reviews?
The main reason I'm using TDA is that they are the only broker in SG offering 0% commission. This is a big deal for me.
So far, the only issue with using TDA is the speed of funds transfer. You need to wait 2 working days before the fund gets from Singapore to your TDA account. For me, it's not a big issue as the other advantages outweigh this like excellent PC software, pretty good SGD-USD forex rate, and most importantly, no commission.
Hi all,
I just called TD and was informed the a/c has been activated.
I had not received any confirmation e-mail. Aside from the e-mail, is there anyway to see tht the a/c has been activated? thnks !
when you check your Account centre after you login.
Your *Paperwork Approval* should have a tick beside it.
An arrow will be beside *Fund Your Account*.

Unless you’re transferring securities in kind (an ACATS transfer), that’s correct.2. If i want to withdraw, does it mean i can only withdraw USD?
In principle you can withdraw funds to any bank account you hold in any currency. If for example that happens to be a Turkish lira bank account, then your Turkish bank or its intermediary will convert the U.S. dollars to Turkish lira. TD Ameritrade is not involved in the currency conversion your bank or its intermediary performs.IE. i have DBS multicurrency account, the fund will automatically goes in the USD account? What if i do not have USD account, guess it will use DBS exchange rate to convert USD - SGD? (that should be avoided in my opinion).
DBS will then most likely charge their inward telegraphic transfer fee of S$10. Some banks in Singapore don’t charge inward TT fees.3. If item 2 is true, believe the best way to do it is to have a USD account (DBS multicurrency account) and receive the withdraw in USD (with 25USD fee towards TDA, nothing can be done on that).
I’m dizzy already, but in this scenario how are you going to get U.S. dollars to FSMOne? Transferwise is kind of understandable (DBS’s U.S.A. Remit presumably). Then figure out the best way to self exchange the USD back to SGD. comparing platform like FSMOne and Transferwise, which is better?
There’s a popular broker that most affordably handles all this (currency conversions) and more, and perhaps you’ve heard of them: Interactive Brokers.By the way i also have a Tigerbroker account and they can hold both USD and SGD and the exchange rate is to some extend ok (but not sure how good it is comparing to FSMone and others). But the withdraw is free to either USD or SGD account. However no free lunch, the commission is not free for trading, especially for options, much more expensive than TDA.
Hope to hear from you guys!
No other broker can beat IB’s exchange rate since they’re doing it at spot. Everyone else is either at Tiger rates (0.3-0.5%) or worse.much appreciated BBCWatcher!
You are right about the DBS incoming wire fee 10sgd, that part seems difficult to avoid (i will just keep the withdraw frequency to the minimum).
Sorry about dizzy part on the FSMOnei have not used that platform yet but i thought it can hold USD and do the convert to SGD with a better exchange rate than DBS. But guess i was naïve on that
Thanks for mentioning IBKR but trading platform i prefer TDA. Probably want to avoid the inactivity fees on IB if the only purpose is to exchange currencyBut Tigerbrokers kind of doing the same thing however pretty sure they have worse exchange rate than IB... Other than IB, any other recommendations for the exchange part?
Hello cryn79 congrats. its amazing what you did. I call and call everyday for a week now and no body pick up the phone. just a answering machine. did you push for new account or maybe you push button for trading ? How did you do it? i mean get somebody to answer ?????

'There is no minimum amount to open an account. We recommend people start with at least USD$3,500. If you do fund with at least USD$3,500, we will rebate your wire fee up to USD$100. You need USD$25,000 to actively day trade, USD$5,000 to sell options naked, and USD$2,000 to have margin capability in your account. At a minimum, you need at least USD$500 to receive live real time data.'
