Hi all,

I live in Aus but am Singaporean. Possible to open a TDAsg account? How long does the account opening process usually take?

TIA :)

TD application processing takes 8-9 weeks. I, myself, am still waiting. But seriously, if you want, use IB. They are much faster and the service is better.

But IB has a monthly activity fee and I don't trade often because I hold long term :(

I texted TDA's WhatsApp twice today afternoon, no reply too. Not a good first impression for the customer service :s22:

Waited for 2 months no reply, maybe the wait time had revised to 3-6 months now instead of the 2-3 months previously.

I got mine up after 3 months at least. But that is after 6 phone calls each with a waiting time of at least 60mins and after 10 plus emails.

It very good training for your calmness and patient.

I’m not using cos it’s free. In fact, I was happy paying for better service. I’m just trying to make sure I have another broker ready on hand and also to use for more speculative positions. But the app does look pretty nice though.

Because "free" is a very powerful motivator, despite the alternative only being a dollar or two. :s13:

Seriously, it’s not that cheap either. Free means the FOREX rate applied by DBS is around 1-2% if I’m not wrong whereas IB gives you spot rate. Even for long-term positions, it adds up.

Besides, the commission is only 30-50 cents? Free also means they sell the order flow resulting in lousier prices for you.

Can complain to MAS about their no response and slow account opening?

Separate note, can open with TDA US instead?

TD is hopeless.

go Tigerbrokers lah.

I need a alternative broker with fixed rate fees rather den charge per share or a % of tranaaction

IB and tiger is charge per share/transaction. The fees are alot if you have a huge position

IB has two pricing structure. For low volume, we usually use tiered. You can use a fix cost structure.

please dont forget there is weekend and xmas. so it is just 2 business day since your request. shd be ok . normally it take 3 to 5 business days .

Still not got the money back.... like someone previously mentioned. Account set up take months, withdrawal take years...

Even calling their hotline, I wait 120mins on hold till I give up. Seem like money is stucked inside Liao.

Really problematic, complain to MAS and get them suspended.

Unless u're trading huge volumes, then the free commission makes sense. Otherwise the TD experience is pretty jarring or just so so tbh. The CS and the opening is very sub par at best from the many feedbacks. Plus withdrawals has fees.

At present using Tiger, interface is slick, live data, can trade pre and post market. Beautful app. Good support. Plus they team up with DBS so depositing and withdrawal is free if u're using one of DBS multicurrency acct (for USD) or normal SGD Acct (for SGD). Deposits are pretty fast within sg business hours. the exchange rates in app is not far off spot. And commission is though not free, but low and afforable (to think DBS charges $25 to enter the US market just 2 to 3 years ago is travesty, but one of the more widely taken options here due to DBS brand name and everyone's common bank)

Its how u value the Free commision fees versus the rest of the factors.

Spot on for the Tiger.

App GUI is friendly, free live data, deposit/withdrawal is effortless using SGD, exchanging currency (e.g. SGD->USG) in the App is easy and fast with a good rate, and account opening is very fast, trade commission is reasonable (US$0.01/share or min US$1.99/trade) although not free.

If you are not high volume daily trader, i think this is a good broker to go.
