For operational problems , just call and speak to TD directly.

About 2 weeks ago , I had a login issue with my account.
I spoke to a live human being and got it resolved immediately.

i was thinking more a local sgp whatsapp small group for operational problem..

So what I will do. Put sgd from posb savings to ibkr sgd account. Sell sgd to buy usd. Wait 3 days settle, initiate transfer wait another 5 days or so to get into wire usd into dbs mca. Use mca usd account to transfer to tda wait another 3 days. Maybe for the money to get into tda can get 1.5 to 2 weeks. Whatever preferential rates for your stocks also no more hahaha. Say wanna buy gme can increase to 350 or drop to 50 or worse suspend trades lol

i have both IB and TD. transfer of money from DBS to them is as easy as using paylah. most time i tranafer in morning. ...the money is there for my evening trading. Both are equalling great

Do you guys open acc with tda or tda.sg?

i think all locals will be directed to open TD sgp.
Also u can use DBS to send your s$ to IB for free as they have a local dbs account. Then change your s$ to usd at forex best rate which IB offer. each month u get a free withdrawal from IB to send to DBS. bingo you save the exchange rate . only pay dbs $7 for incoming usd.
With USD in dbs account. transfer to IB or TD is Free and instant.
Anyway traders shd not waste time worry about money exchange and transfer. once committed ...keep all money in USD and burn all your bridges with sdgdollar. you either make your million or die trying. Retreat is not an option. if u start planning retreat before the battle begins...u already lost..forget about trading.
My advice to novice is start with IB to build usd . commission $2 is nothing.
when u trade in thousands a day ...switch to TD for free commission.

Actually I just did a sgd dbs transfer on Feb 9 exchange rate is 1.326 it’s almost spot rate on the dbs forex Corp rate on the TD side. I think for any 4 digit transfer it’s probably not worth the effort and time to do fx via ibkr.

Thanks, I usually transfer to IBKR's Citi account though. Not sure if they changed their preferred bank to DBS after they set up a branch here.
I opened an account with TDA. Hopefully they will get back to me soon, but seems like everyone here was saying the wait time was about .. 3 months?

Transfer at least USD$3,500 to your TD Ameritrade account from your bank or another brokerage firm and we will rebate the transfer fees up to USD$100. (Offer valid for the initial funding only for new customers.) To get your rebate, just mail or fax us a copy of your statement showing the transfer fees from your bank or previous broker.

This promotion was listed on TDA sg site, but seems like it isn't that useful if transfer is done through the route you mentioned, is that right?

Yeah, $7 incoming fees incurred between IBKR-DBS. And about $2 commission for IBKR currency conversion. Not sure if it will do better than just transferring to TD directly from DBS. Have anyone compared before? @ecgwee?

I did a comparison think that 1.5 to 2 weeks lag time between ibkr and tda is not worth the time unless you do 5 digit transfer. But if you anyone is the kind $10 also will want to save by all means do it via ibkr. Remember though the forex itself can fluctuate between the days so i think it’s probably easier to just do a direct transfer via sgd on posb bank

Unless you have a company espp who directly deals with usd with another brokerage then u can do via USD from MCA DBS like I do.

Yeah, what I was trying to say is the commissions coming from ibkr-bank-bank-tda process might not outweigh the savings from direct bank_sgd-tda_usd conversion.

Anyway, does dbs_sgd to tda_usd direct conversion charge anything extra beyond the conversion rate itself? or it's all summed into the conversion rate?

Pen-sign the following:
Scanned copy of NRIC
Scanned copy of proof of address/bill
Scanned copy of bank statement
Scanned copy of Client Account Review

GG... just saw this. I uploaded my documents alr. You meant, we need to sign on top of those documents instead of just uploading scanned copy?
Anyone happened to upload one without signed then later a signed one? The 'upload' button is now greyed out once documents are uploaded.

I uploaded the documents without penned signatures. Called in to support to ask how to reupload -> they tell me actually my documents are okay and they dont need me to pen sign in ink and scan. If more info is needed, their accounts dept will contact me.

Shall wait and see though..cross fingers

according to their application instruction, you need to pen-sign on those stipulated document, re-scan and upload.

not sure if tda sg will stick to it or let unsigned docs pass.

can i check if its still worth it to open TD account ?

Seems after reading past threads,

Cons :
1. Account opening process is slow and cumbersome
2. Deposit of funds takes a few days
3. FX rate not so great

Pros :
1 $0 commission

depends on the person.
if the zero comm translates into huge saving, then its worth the hassle.

From my exp,

1. Acct opening is slow but best to call in at 9am. Abt 10-30 mins can get CSO. Dun press 1 or 4, try 2 or 3 and ask to transfer or sometime they can do as well.

2. Deposit of funds for me from dbs to td took 2 business days, fri and mon

3. Fx rate for me was not bad, 1.33x or 0.754x.
