I uploaded the documents without penned signatures. Called in to support to ask how to reupload -> they tell me actually my documents are okay and they dont need me to pen sign in ink and scan. If more info is needed, their accounts dept will contact me.

Shall wait and see though..cross fingers

Thanks, I'll leave it then. I tried calling in earlier to check but the estimated waiting time told by the system was 2.5 hours, hung up in the end.

From my exp,

1. Acct opening is slow but best to call in at 9am. Abt 10-30 mins can get CSO. Dun press 1 or 4, try 2 or 3 and ask to transfer or sometime they can do as well.

2. Deposit of funds for me from dbs to td took 2 business days, fri and mon

3. Fx rate for me was not bad, 1.33x or 0.754x.

Doesn't calling in not expedite the process? everyone here seems to wait 2~3 months

If there's outstanding not done, you can wait until the cow comes home. Try calling back in 2 weeks' time to check again. Their application is overwhelming and indeed 2 months is the benchmark for the account readiness.

Not sure abt the rest but for me, while i did created my TD acct last yr, i left it hanging till Dec 2020 in which i restarted the opening of acct. I provided the necessary docs via their email since Apr 2020 but no follow ups. Then i called me and they mentioned to resubmit all docs again coz it was more than 6 mths old. Did that the next day and 3-4 days later, i received email that acct was approved on top of asking for my payslip/bills to further verify on change of address.

Not referring to TD solely, if you've done any trading or investing using USD over past few years, it would have been conversion loss of several thousands. you'll need to profit and continue to max that, unless you've hedged exactly all the way.
consoling post but doesnt change for those holding USD but also couldn't convert straightaway.

Anyway traders shd not waste time worry about money exchange and transfer. once committed ...keep all money in USD and burn all your bridges with sdgdollar. you either make your million or die trying. Retreat is not an option. if u start planning retreat before the battle begins...u already lost..forget about trading.
My advice to novice is start with IB to build usd . commission $2 is nothing.
when u trade in thousands a day ...switch to TD for free commission.

Saw this update on ig, anyone used poems before? How is it compared to TDA?

Edit: ok, doesn’t seem so exciting after reading tnc:
US Zero Commission promotion is applicable for all Cash Plus Accounts, limited to the first 3 eligible trades per day, excluding Exchange Fees and GST; where applicable.
The promotion is applicable for BUY trades executed ONLINE through POEMS suite of platforms in the US Markets, with contract gross value not more than USD 2,000 from 1 February 2021 to 30 April 2021.

what you talking about? when trading in different currency you need to set your base currency, fx risk is always there. There is nothing stopping the fx to rise or fall 5-10% the day after you converted

I was a ibkr user, switched to td recently. The depositing of funds for ibkr takes about an hour, sometimes even less. TD, i transferred last Thursday(cny eve) morning, only got it yesterday, Tuesday late night. Not sure if it is the cny that cause the delay. I haven’t tried wirhdrawing, wonder if for these brokerage, it will be as fast to withdraw as their deposit?

TD contacted you 3 months after your application and asked for more documents? What did they ask for? Gosh, I'd better contact them to check if anything is missing and not 痴痴地等 ...

From what I gathered from this thread's recent posts, it seems that the time needed for TD account opening is at least 3 months? Anyone couldn't wait and opened account with another brokerage? I'm looking at Firstrade as an alternative ... anyone use them and how is it? Thanks.

Hi,

How do I get live data on thinkorswim?

Please search their faqs
https://www.tdameritrade.com.sg/faqs.html
After you deposited, chat with their support in the app to activate live data

"
What is the minimum deposit required to open an account?

There is no minimum amount to open an account. We recommend people start with at least USD$3,500. If you do fund with at least USD$3,500, we will rebate your wire fee up to USD$100. You need USD$25,000 to actively day trade, USD$5,000 to sell options naked, and USD$2,000 to have margin capability in your account. At a minimum, you need at least USD$500 to receive live real time data."
