You can use thinkorswim with delayed data without depositing any money inside, as long as you create a live account. But no referral fee.

i'm thinking of signing up for an account

what advantage does do i get if i use the referral from all u guys?

" Referral Program

For every client you refer who funds a new account with a minimum of USD$3500, we will credit USD$188 to your account. For questions or to refer a friend, email help@tdameritrade.com.sg."

Should consider some sharing.

Too expensive, no reason to choose this over Interactive Brokers.

Having tested several brokerages now, I personally found TD's tool kit to be vastly superior to IB's. Not to mention only TD has access to 24/5 trading access on various instruments like SPY.

IB's advantage is the cheap rates which is useful for smaller size trades, but it can be hard for newbies to learn and use.

I would recommend opening both to test out your preferred brokerage, I personally started using TD for charting, planning and bigger trades while IB for short scalps.

My main problem with TD is the process to setup the account is ****ing slow and inefficient, took me forever to get processed, if their platform wasn't the best for DD I wouldn't have bothered with them.

SPY doesnt trade 24/5, unless you are talking about CFDs.

TD can be cheaper for stocks if you are trading low priced stocks since IB's comms are on a per share basis, I only do large cap stocks that are over $100 so there is no reason for me to use TD. TD's futures and options comms are just not competitive, thats another reason to not use them.

IB good for Low priced stocks. TD good for higher priced stocks

TD customer support is good. Haven’t really tried IB support yet. Heard they’re supposed to open a flagship Asia office in Singapore earlier this year

Its the other way round. It will cost you more in comms if you buy 20000 shares of a $5 stock on IB, on TD its a flat rate. 100 shares of AMZN cost me less than a buck on IB, no broker can beat that.

It does. It has been doing that since 2017, at least on TD. Quite a number of big ETFs trade 24/5 on TD.

Whatever it is it can't be good, only TD offers such a thing so your orders are definitely not going to an exchange where everyone can see them, this sounds and works more like a CFD to me, you are mostly trading against the house.

There is no reason to trade the SPY between 8pm and 4am EST anyway, there is already ES for that.

I am sure a decent trader can see a clear advantage having an extra tool in their belt.

No need to call sour grapes just because you got something wrong once.

How am I wrong? SPY is not available during those hours, what TD is offering isn't SPY even if you can actually trade it. Its no different from trading a CFD product with a bucket shop.

I've been in this business for over a decade and I know quite a number of successful traders IRL, none of them use TD, its just too expensive, its only good for traders who can only afford to trade penny stocks since they charge a flat fee for stocks, everything else costs way more to trade on TD, its a total ripoff.

I only mentioned TD had 24/5 service and you miscorrected. Don't have to get mad over a small mistake. You can sugar coat it as ES lite or better CFD if you want, doesn't change the fact that the service has existed for 3 years now.

There is no need to puff up the chest with egoistical claims of time spent trading or having connections. My dad has been trading for 30 years and he still sucks at it and every decent trader has access to multiple platforms and knows how balances their strengths and weaknesses.

Like I have said previous TD's strengths lie in the useability, effective charting/DD research and flat rates for big buys. Doesn't mean TD has to be the main brokerage but they have a great system to utilize that everyone can benefit from.
