I have just called in and check...CSO told me airbnb falls under travel category. Seems like now they are able to check from their system the MCC category of the merchants...259850, did u select the correct category for the quarter?

OK I've checked my records. I was on Dining & Leisure (not Travel) when I got 5% rebate for Airbnb. This was in October 2016. I assume Airbnb has (or had) a MCC code that falls under the hotel category.

Not sure if things have changed. I've not used Airbnb since then. I doubt I'll use ANZ Optimum for Airbnb anymore as the 2.5% charge on S$ processed overseas and $600 cap per transaction makes it unappealing. My bookings usually bust the cap.

I did choose the travel category this quarter. I will call in to request for adjustment. How come there is fees? I checked the amount billed and it's the same amount as what I saw on my Airbnb app. Mine is in SGD. Appreciate your reply.

i think better for u to call & check wrt 5% cash back.
regarding cross border fees, since u said amt billed is same as airbnb amt on your app means no cross border fees lo.
appreciate u to keep us posted after u talk to anz. thanks!

If I remembered correctly, when I was on travel category, I booked airbnb once and didn't get my 5%. I called ANZ and they told me it falls under the leisure category. That was about half a year ago, and if I remembered correctly.

anyone managed to get the luggage successfully? Those who got it, did you make the qualifying spend within the same week once you received your card as well?

Hello guys,

I was planning on which credit card to use for paying income taxes. So far the only practical option I can think of is using this optimum card to using MasterCard pay using e-axs. There is no way to get the 5% rebate, but even 1% rebate interms of optimum $ is still worth it compared to nothing. What do you guys think? Any other way to pay income tax and get better than 1% rebate?

My income tax will be about $4.8k so there is potential to earn some $48.

Thanks guys for confirming that this card cant be used for paying taxes and earn rebates.

I have another question; Today I received an offer in mail of 0% fund transfer with 0$ processing fee for 6 months. Sounds like a cool offer, nothing to lose.
I could invest that amount somewhere or keep in my ocbc 360 account and earn that paltry interest.

But then it struck to me, my annual fee for the card is due in May. What is the likelyhood, that they will waive off the fee, if I have availed a loan on the card? I guess chances are low. But I think that is okay; I will keep the money in OCBC 360 account and pay off the loan and close the card, in case they refuse to waive off the loan. What do you guys say?

Finally spoke to the CSO, he sounds quite unfriendly. He confirmed that Airbnb is under the leisure category. Guess I was lucky to get the rebate last year. There seems to be an issue with cash back on Klook. They are registered as an advertising company under the MCC code. Can't get 5% rebate either. Any way to appeal on Klook.com?

Applied for credit limit review today, there is a promo, you get 20 optimum$ if there is a limit increase.
