What are the tests that you personally do/require the seller to do before purchasing a second hand gpu? Found a few tips online but want to know what's done in an SG context.

If he want 3090 for the 24GB vram then just suit him Lor, why keep pushing him to 9070XT or 5070Ti?
haha.. think they are trying to help me get best value for money. I was originally thinking of getting 16gb card.. but I realized..edmw fave phrase, top up a bit more can get 3090 second hand with more vram.

ya...a bit nervous. I guess I just need to tell myself that if I can't get a good deal now just pass.
There are always a risk to buy 2nd hand GPU regardless of any type.
I do purchased 2nd hand GPU b4 too. Buyers will always have to take a certain amount of risk too even seller say is working. However, I am lucky to purchase all in good working condition ones.
If some seller are kind enuff, u can test the GPU at their house b4 making a purchase too.

If u feel the risk is too high, just go for brand new with AD warranty.

got this deal now but I'm hesitant. 3 yr warranty left on 3090. except seller wants the buyer to pay up first and only get it after his GPU comes on 15th aug.

Erm, no. I will skip on this. Total NO-NO to pay upfront. Sounds like a scam to me.
won't say scam but just seems odd. he didn't even ask for a deposit. just wanted the cash first even though in his own words he doesn't need the cash urgently.. I'll monitor the post and update here if the deal does go thru in the end..

Carousell? Which seller?
I know some seller are not legit last I encounter was someone similar what you encounter.
Have to pay up front ordered the card than come.

These are not legit, they just wait till they find one or somone sell to them than they
sell to you.
Another red flag is the warranty on the RTX 3090.

Is it Zotac? If left 1 or 2 year that means extended warranty which need the invoice and
registration email. RTX 3090 by now such card should have no more warranty.
If you are spending so much on such a card why not consider brand new RTX 5070/5080?

I think only can look at seller profiles, their sold listings and reviews. Get those really selling as owners with clear item descriptions

you are cautious them , they also cautious you :o

Very sketchy even though profile doesn't look like a builder/repairman.
Maybe either seller don't have the card or send for RMA .
i think he is waiting for his 4090 to come b4 getting rid of the 3090~

no idea why he mentioned pre-order basis...

ya that's the part that makes me uneasy. I'm ok to get it after he settles his own 4090. but he said he wants to sell it first so he can remove the listing and not think about it. but he could do a deposit down payment also but he didn't. he also said he's not in a hurry to sell. so it's very conflicting to me. @86technie you encountered him before? I suspect he wants to use the money to pay for his 4090. but that's just a guess

fair enough. that's why cash on delivery I feel is the safest no? pre order a bit weird when you're not a shop. I offered to use the buy now function which protects both parties but he claimed when he add the bank account the app crashes.. so go figure
