What are the tests that you personally do/require the seller to do before purchasing a second hand gpu? Found a few tips online but want to know what's done in an SG context.

ya that's the part that makes me uneasy. I'm ok to get it after he settles his own 4090. but he said he wants to sell it first so he can remove the listing and not think about it. but he could do a deposit down payment also but he didn't. he also said he's not in a hurry to sell. so it's very conflicting to me. @86technie you encountered him before? I suspect he wants to use the money to pay for his 4090. but that's just a guess

Correct that is seller intention.
Ask you pay deposit first than he can fund for the new card.
Which is why such seller don't deal.
Like some say find those legitimate selling no need to put deposit.
Even I also don't need people to pay deposit unless delivery.

have la. just that this one is cheaper and have warranty. anyway he claims there's at least another potential buyer.. but that one also don't want to pay first.

Cuz people scare pay deposit than seller run.
Which appear on news so many times.
Buy bag, shoe, ticket, phone etc.

Personally most ppl don't let u test before purchase. As long as the person has clean reviews 40+ at 5.0, usually should be safe. Those carouseller below 4.9-5.0 usually have attitude problem or act shady

He bought the card in 2023. Then tell you still left 3 yrs warranty? He wanna kid who? Asus gpu warranty is 36 months aka 3 years only. More like the card is left with 3 months warranty.

If the 4090 is coming on 15, maybe he need the 3090 cash to pay off. Else, you just wait until 15 then see how.

fair enough. that's why cash on delivery I feel is the safest no? pre order a bit weird when you're not a shop. I offered to use the buy now function which protects both parties but he claimed when he add the bank account the app crashes.. so go figure
scam! if any issue, he tell you fly kite most likely.

WAH RTX 3090....
3 mains things... as i have gotten a few gpu over the years...
1. ask the seller the correct q... how long have you used this card? how did you did with it? has the card done any mining? when you are using it is there any problems? why are you selling this card? i dont care if the seller lies to you anot as on the 3 step you will know.

2. can you provide at least a 3-7 day warranty? or i can bring home to test the card if anything i will let you know.

3. physically inspect the card.... if got rust is pretty normal, check for wear and tear....any blacken part...

i brought 2nd cards from 460 to 560ti and 5700xt
the only new cards i gotten are 9060gt 750ti and rx570
