[CONSOLIDATED] Errant Cyclists Thread

[Encouragesome1]

like that i must always use car horn, cos cyclist wearing spandex, backside no eyes. they don’t know car approaching, so must horn lor. the longer the horn the better.

Hello I turned deaf after being near you for x hours

Its ok to defend yourself if you need to. If you see a bicycle coming at you straight, what do you do? Tbh, I would stretch out my leg, if he falls, he falls.

What if the cyclist ram your leg?

[psyger-zero]

I dont bother. What can they do? Bang to me then I just call police.

lastime thats what my dad told me.now he also lan lan have to give way to them.all his beliefs come crashing down the drain, proven wrong.never expects govt to bend backwards for cyclist n pmd users.

Why should pedestrians move out of the way?

If the footpath is crowded the cyclists can dismount and push, or ride on the road or grass.

When a cyclist behind me rings his bell, I continue walking straight at my pace.

When a cyclist comes fast face to face with me, whether he rings bell or not, I stand still and brace.

When a cyclist comes face to face with his headlights high, I stand still, shield my eyes and brace.

Sound like an ad for airline. But on the ground

[standarture]

Honestly, if the footpath is not wide enough, I really don't want to give way to cyclists. You just dismount and walk around me. That's what I do anyway. It's damn rude to horn people.

do u notices?

Read HWZ Forum Rules!

Ts u very self entitled for hogging the pavement. Everyone just be just a bit more considerate towards others la

When i was walking the dense residential area in tokyo Japan, the cyclists no ring bell behind. They slow down and only ride past pedestrians when it is safe.

[Subprimer]

I dont bother. What can they do? Bang to me then I just call police.

police will tell you there is no number plate so unable to track down the cyclist

[Subprimer]

i think why cyclists have to ring at pedestrians because some sinks don't keep left when walking -- the type that have no care for other pedestrians and cyclist and walk like a king in the centre of walkway.

[dhlnsz]

When entitled pedestrians walk on cyclists lane, they should be given fine. At traffic lights cyclists lane where the green lights shows a green bicycle symbol I often see entitled pedestrians walk on cyclists lane and pedestrian lanes, they are in the wrong too.

[doratch]

This is accurate, cyclist should also slow down a bit and pref ring in advance instead of right behind them, they can be startled and jump into your path etc.

There are electronic bells one can buy for cheap and sounds pretty loud so peds should have no reason to say they cannot hear them, so long as the bell is rung in advance.

There is a difference between ringing once and kept ringing.

If ring once, its to alert ppl that there is a cyclist behind them.
If ring repeatedly, it means the cyclist wants you to get out of his way.
Lao auntie me, doesnt hiew cyclist who kept ringing the bell.

[galmongie]

Sometimes the path too narrow or too crowded also can ring.

They no eyes see is it???

[Encouragesome1]

Agree, I a hearing impaired on both ears. Only wearing one hearing aid with minimum effect. I am always at risk while walking even with walking stick in public road, foot paths, etc. Some of them shouted at me to hearing their ringing, when they turned around to look at me, I show them that I am not able to hear and my walking stick (not my middle ________)

For you and some of the other similar folks who are not responsive I will slow down to their pace

[doratch]

Seriously, if the cyclist is such in a hurry, he should just cycle on the road.
But he is kiasee to kena buang by motorist, thats why die die must cycle on the pavement?

[robie_aibo]

Encountered similar situation at the Chinese Garden station bus stop. It was crowded and one lady told the cyclist to dismount. The cyclist replied why I can't cycle through here.

[toolbox03]

More and more people holding hand walk side by side

[Full_Cream_Milk]

TS can carry this and hörn them back.

[eboy]

if there is a cycling lane beside the pedestrian footpath, cyclist should not intrude, if sharing 1 lane, there should be give and take, pedestrian should keep to the left and cyclist should lookout for vulnerable child or elderly or preggy
