You can check out Panasonic and Samsung website still got few models available. Too bad it doesn't suit my needs as they can't transfer out to external HDD.

But I donno why they still have it in their catalogues, since their branches don't have it.

However, I did recall seeing a last few sets of the LG 250GB recorder at the Clementi Mall Best Denki. I remember that it was on sale. But I didn't buy it because I find LG recorder problematic & not user-friendly.

But if you still want it, maybe you can google their website & call their number to find if still got stock.

Hello everyone,

It suddenlly dawned to me that there are no many DVD + HDD Recorders being sold any more. In fact, the only one that I saw at Courts is LG. Even Panasonic does not offer DVD + HDD Recorders anymore.

Anyone here care to comment what contributed to the demise of such a product? I personally like to record TV programmes so that I can view it at my own leisure and skip the commercials.

I have saw this online- uraku S-200C HD DVR. Can it be a comparison to LG, Samsung? For a year plus, I had recorded all shows on Hubstation, but weeks ago, it died on me. I was given a new Hubstation and was told there was no way to retrieve any shows which I had recorded on the spoilt one. Thus I guess DVDR is the only alternative for me? Pls advise. Tks!

Most major electronic department store like courts and harney Norman have stock . I think is LG brands selling at $299. The other brand us Panasonic which cost more.

i use those recorder than can record on to thumb drive
used it to backup my old dvd recorder and record via mio tv
no fantastic resolution just SD.. ...but convenient

If u have a PC in the house juts buy cheap used PCI/PCIe TV card and capture function - this is far more readily available and cheaper. I have 2 on my HTPC and HD5 can record in 1920 x 1080 off antenna

Agree with this.

The files created by the TV card are more flexible to be moved around than those that are stored on the DVD/HDD recorders.

LG is ok, cannot remember the link.
This is the only recorder that allow you to upgrade with your own higher capacity disk too.

as mentioned in my earlier reply, I dun think LG is that good, even though it has a HDD. When I tried to edit the video, it has a 2 sec lag. But then again, that is the best that the market can offer now.

Parents need a simple device for them to press record & play button.

Does anyone know where I can still find Panasonic or Pioneer DVD/HDD Recorder? I went to 3 different Best Denki & Harvey Norman places in the west area & they don't sell them anymore.

Don't really like LG because it's not very user friendly ( my old one that just died is a LG). Unfortunately, that is the only model that seems to be left. And only at one Best Denki outlet. No other place seems to even have ANY brand of DVD/HDD Recorder at all.

Any help appreciated

I would suggest you to take LG. As next time you can change to new disk or higher capacity disk. Other brand you have to go back agent to repair.

How much would such a card cost? Any recommendation?
