If it is not dollars and cents then whats the point of comparing prices of EV versus ICE or Hybrid? China EVs are much cheaper than like toyota Hybrid.

If money no issue go get a lambo Urus then.

My 6 years of BMW ownership never get a single service center update.

Legacy mindset and business model is very different. EVs are like mobile phones and all about the chips and software. With every software update the EV gets better. Big tech giants like Tesla, Xiaomi, Huawei, have the edge going into EV. Too bad Apple gave up.

My friend say the milege saved quite pathetic, for show only but prices are higher than an ICE variant. Not sure if the battery up lorry how much to replace.

IMHO.
If time and status quo are consideration, get ICE/Hybrid.
If not, get EV. If don't have "personal charger", have to use time to work around.
E.g. By the time I arrived at work, there is always a charger for me to use. But the charger is in the open.
The car will be subject to the elements, including rain, as well as the driver. Also longer distance from my office.

I moved from ICE to Hybrid - everything basically the same except mileage improve by about 10km/L or more.
Annual mileage > 20k km.

Hybrid is a stop gap measure. Imo is worse than pure ICE as end up there are more parts to service and maintain. More complication. And still no advancement in software.

ICE loh. No issues travelling overseas. Just pump and go...

Think saw some cn videos showing those modern high speed electric train and such in accident and extreme weather could not work. End up have depend on the good old ICE train to push them to safety.

Nissan ePower , the engine primarily used as generator to provide power to the motor drive,

Honda EHEV, dual power source, engine can provide wheel power as well as generator mode to charge the battery. This one has higher power output. The description is impressive but seems not popular here..

Why buy an old tech for exhorbitant prices? Every year face lift face lift but same crap under the bonnet and prices keep going up.

IMHO.
Some calculation for mileage only.
If each year drive 25,000km, over 10 years is 250,000km.

For ICE with FC about 12.5km/L with ron95 at $2.48, total petrol cost is $49,600
For Hybrid with FC about 22.5km/L with ron95 at $2.48, total petrol cost is about $27,556
For EV with average 4.8 km/kWh at average kWh at $0.614, the energy cost is about $31,979

P.S. The EV numbers plucked from various places on the internet.

Toyota AD prices are expensive. As to the tech inside, must open eyes big big. Some really is older tech.

my one gets update quite frequently every few months.

I think new models now all have OTA updates. Once stable, then maybe no more updates.

Glad to hear that, I definitely like BMW handling but no budget to buy what I am looking for.
I jumped ship as no 350k budget for BMW i4 .
COE going sky high, stripping us car choices.

15 years back, I didn't even see 325 up, now I feel the pinch on 318.

Until LTA lowers the road tax applied on EVs, I won't touch them.

Unless you are a heavy user, say >25k km/ year, then the lower running cost may be able to offset the higher road tax. For low mileage users, don't bother.
