I have asked around and saw forums in hardware zone, that its normal by OCBC to behave this way or if they suspect or not happy with you, they will “review” you. Then they can just demand to cease services with you. But as they close the account they have to report to the relevant authorities.. so in the future... even opening with another bank would be difficult.

They are exercising their legal right to stop doing business with you for any reason. :s8:

In your case, I suspect it's to avoid any risk of being implicated in a police case. Business as usual for them. They've ended relationships for less, including just being unprofitable.

To address your point on whether it'll be difficult to open accounts with other banks: no, if they terminate the relationship on their end, they don't have to report to "the relevant authorities".

They can report suspicious transactions, but I believe other banks don't have access to these reports, only the police: https://www.police.gov.sg/Advisories/Crime/Commercial-Crimes/Suspicious-Transaction-Reporting-Office

I've been posting this for a while: only stupid people continue to bank with OCBC.

I would like to invest a lump sum from my OCBC SRS account into an STI ETF using BCIP.

Is there a way to do this? BCIP seems to only allow RSP.

Hi there,

The OCBC Blue Chip Investment Plan (BCIP) provides customers with an affordable and hassle-free way to invest in blue chip shares. With a minimum investment amount of just S$100 monthly, customers can now buy lesser units of shares instead of the standard lot size of 100 shares.

After the initial purchase instruction, the BCIP will invest the specified amount into the customers' selected share every month. As a result, the customer will accumulate more shares when prices are low, and lesser shares when prices are high, potentially lowering the average purchase price.

The nature of BCIP is monthly, and not lump sum investment.

Credit Card Transaction Scam Msg???

Hi,

My wife has received a SMS msg from OCBC asking to verify a credit card transaction.

She called the number listed +65 65357677 and the agent asked for her credit card number, generated a OTP for her to key in.

Would like to ask if this is standard procedure?

We are so worried that this is a scam!!:eek:

Hi bgit09,

Please inform your wife to give us a call to 1800 363 3333 for a check on the legitimacy of the SMS she received. Our service executives will be able to do a check on the records.

Hello OCBC,

Under OCBC Premier banking and/or OCBC Premier Private banking, does OCBC charge custodian fees for holding foreign-listed stocks?

Any other charges for buying foreign-listed stocks through OCBC Premier banking and/or OCBC Premier Private banking?

Hi OCBC,

I forgot that my bank account has insufficient funds during my settlement due date for my stock I bought.Mine is an auto giro payment arrangement. I only top-up after the due date. Will GiRO automatically deduct my outstanding amount after the due date?

Hi there,

Is this with regard to investments made on BCIP or iOCBC, or others?

Hi OCBC Bank, my trading account for CPF investment doesn't seem to be able to set up buy order / sell order for example STI ETF for more than a day.

My Standard chartered brokerage acct does allow me to set buy order/sell order for up to 2weeks period.

Is this function somewhere in iOCBC that I missed out?

Hi there,

The function is available on the iOCBC portal!
Under ‘Validity’, select ‘Good till Date’, and input the date.
And under ‘Mode’, select the CPF option, if you wish to use CPF as the payment mode.

You may refer to our user guide for more details on how to place ‘Good till Date’ orders: https://portal.iocbc.com/iwov-resources/sg/ocbc/ospl/PDF/good-till-date-order.pdf.

If you have further queries on this, feel free to drop us a private message.
