Some BP meds like not so effective in bringing down the BP?

Erm....Sodium is an essential nutrient.water is essential
Sodium is non essential
humans can survive without food for weeks, but cannot survive without water for few days.
not sure about potassium, as i don't jiak salmon, avocado, banana, milk etc.
will experiment potassium vs bp when free.![]()
Erm....Sodium is an essential nutrient.
sigh, what i mean was reduce sodium intake. is not like u can remove the sodium from the processed food.Erm....Sodium is an essential nutrient.
The human body requires a small amount of sodium to conduct nerve impulses, contract and relax muscles, and maintain the proper balance of water and minerals. It is estimated that we need about 500 mg of sodium daily for these vital functions.
Anybody currently on high blood pressure medication? Feel free to share here. My personal history
My height and weight is normal. 170 and 55kg
diagnosed with HBP about 6 months back. Been on medication since and about a month back additional medication was added as my bp hit 188/126 while I was working. Company doctor send me to A&E immediately after a couple of hours observation discharged from hospital.
I do not drink coffee at all since teenage days
I got take up an annual polyclinic plan (less than $10) to upload my hbp readings online.
Mind to share your age?
If your company provides ok medical cover, go for a med check that includes Ultrasound Carotid Scan (neck ultrasound to see whether any clot). This test market price is about SGD300.

without sodium, u won't die..... just malnutrition. and i said reduce in sodium intake, not don't take....essential means cannot survive without wad....sodium IS an essential nutrient.
i think the point that many ppl are missing is how long does the increased BP last after a salty meal.
what i was trying to point out is that by drinking lots of water, your BP will increase dramatically over the next 30mins, before slowly coming down as your kidneys filter out the excess water in your blood to bring your BP back to baseline.
similarly your BP will also rise after a salty meal, and if it is too much salt, your kidneys will eject the excess salt along with the water you drank(coz eat salty make u thirsty) in order to bring your BP back to baseline.
the impt question here is, does your BP stay elevated after taking the salt or does it settle back to normal after your kidneys do it's job. cuz everytime we go hospital or doctor take BP, it is just a snapshot of that instant and is not accurate like a 24hr BP monitor.
i take alot of dairy products like cheese and cream, lesser milk cuz of the lactose.
There is also increasing evidence that a high salt intake may increase deterioration of kidney disease in people already suffering from kidney problems.
If with HB medication still doesn’t come under control, do check for cholesterol…Anybody currently on high blood pressure medication? Feel free to share here. My personal history

i already tell u morning take blood pressure with empty stomach....u still persist on after meal... water. etc
if u dun drink enough water daily, u will damage your organs.... this kind of thing cannot play play 1.
each body is diff, u can't assume everyone kidney can purge out all the excess salt.
why i so convinced with the sodium relationship because i never hit 120 b4. signing off.![]()
If with HB medication still doesn’t come under control, do check for cholesterol…
I was warded twice for uncontrolled HB and finally tested high cholesterol and taking medication to mitigate and all else is fine now…
You need to change your diets…
Mine was eating too much carbohydrates n didn’t eat meat nor fat but led to fatty liver etc
I have since cut down on yellow noodles n minimal rice to cut carbohydrates… taking more veggies n fruits especially salad
