Those with HBP, pls check with your doc first IF u suitable to donate blood

Because if you are taking meds for HBP, and then you donate blood to someone (usually in ICU) and then those in ICU are at risk of low blood pressure, and if your blood contains the meds that will lower the blood pressure, wouldnt it put the someone in need at risk?

Just to share about this in case anyone is not aware. We want to help but we dont want to put people in danger too.

Normally during blood donations, besides the questionnaire, ur blood pressure will be measured on the spot. If it is too high, they won't allow u to donate at all.

They will ask you for declare if you have HBP n what meds u taking as some meds will cause the blood pressure to drop

everytime i see doctor bp always near 200....i told doctor white coat syndrome......got once warded after night supper eating ba kut teh....they just give you more medicine and monitor in hospital...basically as most people here said....buy a monitor to observe.....best times to measure ....after wake up and before bedtime

Mine hit 140 ish recently. Not on med yet. Hope exercise and diet change can reduce it.

no need to measure right arm.
just the left arm because it is nearest your heart, the most accurate.

the most accurate is take bp after u wake up.

ur bp is ok, but best to keep below 130 at all times. most likely u not enough sleep/stressed on that day.

u should find the root cause.......
buy 1 bpm and monitor.......

Consuming sodium will increase bp
Sleep late will increase bp
Stress from work, family, relationship will increase bp
Angry/scold people will increase bp
play games will increase bp

if u able to change your lifestyle/diet, can improve your situation.

Did you feel anything that they needed to send u to A&E?
Then what A&E did? Operate on you or some medical procedures？

188 is crazily high, confirm must send to hospital no matter what de..

When you just wake up, still need to go to a chair and table set up to take the pressure. That will already increase the readings.

my experience is that despite that actions, its still reflects a lower than normal bp. If u wait 30mins to one hr after u wakeup, that will reflect a more accurate bp.

Need to monitor longer term impact.

If lifestyle is the same, the BP should revert back to like pre meds.

Yes yes. Tat time i 186/101 they dun allow me to donate. Ask me see doc 1st
