Last couple of weeks, I make sure I take oats every day. If I skip breakfast, I have it for lunch in place of rice. You can try that . You'll get the taste of your food. So it's not yucky.
good idea. actually I don't mind the taste of oats that much, just that cooking it very mafan have to clean and its sticky. so trying to find other ways to eat oats like making oat cookies.

Personally i find eating oats regularly help. I'm 50 years old and had been eating oats for past 9 months.

in the recent health screen, I managed to get my LDL down to 120mg/dl and HDL up to 65mg/dl.

Hopefully I can get my LDL below 100mg/dl in my next health screen as I persist in my lifestyle od regular exercise and diet.
Is eating oats suitable for diabetics?

better check w doc
but I can definitely feel the sugar spike and crash with oats although not as bad as white rice.

apparently tips to reduce the spike include combining with fat like peanut butter, or protein like eggs.

Yes, but cleanup is troublesome.

been into making oatmeal cookie lately. Mash banana with oatmeal and bake. More portable and can have smaller portion size for oatmeal.

For me oats is for breakfast. Was advise by nurse. No more bread with jam. So for oats i just add tumeric or garlic. All for health sake

What brands of oats do you guys recommend? So many choices. Are they all the same?

Not talking about those instant where they added sugar kind.
im eating this brand. Pour with unsweetened soya milk and wait overnight. add nuts and seeds.

dont be afraid of BG spikes when eating the oats. frankly this fear is a bit unnecessary.

oats is full of fiber and nutritional. its the fiber that helps to lower your cholesterol.

you dont want to spike BG can. eat more meat and protein but you see higher cholesterols.

eat oats but be more physically active so as to improve your insulin sensitivity while keeping cholesterols low.

our health objective is to eat in a manner that can lower ALL health markers and thus lowering mortality for all causes ie cancer, diabetes, stroke, etc

We just soak the oats overnight ( we leave it in the fridge) in a Pyrex bowl. Throw away the water and add a bit of boiled water ( or dun need to).
Eat.
No sticky

If I add bananas , I don't need honey.
Other times I put cocoa powder and honey.
Or I just take it with walnuts , hazel nuts or other nuts

there no proof fish oil help to reduce cholesterol... especially ldl

But from what my observation, high cholesterol is caused by food intake and lifestyle.
So don't expect supplementary could help u.
True. Fish oil aka Omega 3 primarily is to lower inflammation throughout the body and inflammation is one of the chief causes of heart disease. It doesnt lower cholesterol if the person already has high level of it.

As long as you have a diet low in fatty meat, low carb, low sugar, low salt, high in fibre, high in fruits, then shd be clear from high cholesterol.

I've been doing regular cholesterol tests at the clinic.

Latest result:

LDL = 105 mg/dL
HDL = 71
Trigs = 50

HDL and trigs are easy for me to manage.

LDL has been fluctuating over the years.

LDL can be as high as 180 and low can be 82.

Average LDL about 130.

Are you on statin medication to get these results?

Your HDL and Trig look healthy. Dr Robert Lustig mentioned that LDL is not an useful indicator. He suggest using a Trig/HCL ratio as a more accurate indicator.

Not yet on statins. Just dietary.

Just cut all the refined carbs and exercise more. Trigs, HDL and BG will be optimal.

Actually the better indicators are APOB and Lp(a). They are more expensive and I had tested once only.
