try to put him on an elimination diet and slowly add in products and see which ingredients affect him.
his brain chemistry might be reacting to certain mundane foods that cause his issues.

i've read some ppl find out that their brain react to something as mundane as soy sauce after using the elimination diet.
He has become dietary and eggs intolerance after eating overnight oats and eggs for 2 long years while studying in Uk.

Now he is completely void of eggs n milk.

I have bot him some supplement to help.
His biggest problem is addiction to Coke Zero.

Other than that, he is ok with the food we prepare for him for dinner when he does dine at home. Don’t know what he eats outside home.

Sometimes he will also request cai png cos like MinMin rightfully put it, our food can be too much for youngsters.

Will the followings appeal more to you?

Sometimes we indulge in sinful fried food for a change. Else our kids will rebel.

Roasted duck with yam ring and lettuce

Slowly and gradually change your diets.

Is quite hard to break a life long eating habits… IT Can be done, if there is a will…

Fried chicken fillet and fried oyster mushrooms

i dunnoe how to say, it's just look weird. maybe u viewing it as nutritionist way.
i looking it as homecook pov, i got over 2000 recipes,

as for will thingy, yes it can be done but it is really up to individual.... can give them healthy meal, but later sneak out to jiak pork trotter etc.

do this 1 come with sauce or dressing?
Can see the half lemon?
that is our salad sauce : lemon juice n olive oil… sometimes has added balsamic vinegar…

Last time we managed to buy almond oil which is aromatic and walnut nut etc.
must have oil in salad… good oil like extra virgin cold pressed olive oil.

From the same paper, InsulinAUC for beef and fish is still higher than oats and pasta, which is the point I had made. Do you have a different paper showing the opposite effect?
This is new to me, surprising fact.

But how about this interpretation? It is area under curve.
If the duration of insulin release is long, but the peak insulin level is low, the AUC can be large. Is this bad?

@vincsho

Consider what bakuten is saying:

i've read cases of statin induced alzheimers....quite scary to see patients recovering almost immediately when taken off statins.

as for artery....the cause of the clots is not the cholesterol...cholesterol formed there because arterial walls got damaged by the glycation process.

think of it like your arm getting small cuts repeatedly by a razor and blood forming scabs. eating statins is like trying to peel away those scabs while ignoring the razor that continues cutting at your arm.

Consider what bakuten is saying:
Statin is scabs remover…

cholesterol is the razors…

If don’t change diet to stop cholesterol/ razors from cutting your arteries, even taking statin will eventually result in strokes with broken arteries?

how high is your Cholesterol or LDL? I'm not fat too, with LDL at 5.6mmol/L during 2017. I reduce via diet after rejecting the doc recommendation. But not be the wisest decision based on hindsight, since my high LDL persist for a few years before I managed to find a suitable diet that eventually get my LDL to 2.9 by 2022. But did not sustain the diet and during the recent 2024 test, it's back to 3.5 mmol/L.

What works for me might not work for others though. For me, my LDL responds to fatty meat so when I reduce that, I got my LDL to mid 4 but when I start to reduce more meat intake, and eat plant based diet around 60-70% of the time, I got my LDL to 2.9.

That's what works for me. Eating much much lesser meat. Give it a try for 2-3 weeks and go to your GP for a lipid test (less than $30) to check if it works for you.
why you stated not "the wisest decision based on hindsight" when I see that you managed to reduce it by your own method, you didnt take any statins etc etc which is the normal route when u consult a MPs. ?

My 19 yo nephew went for NS check up.

TC is above 350 and LDL above 270. Trigly around 50 and HDL above 70.

A very fit and sporty boy and all were shocked with his numbers.

Doc said likely hereditary and to recheck 3 months later then decide whether to be on statin.

I brought him to a heart specialist to get a Pre-Enlistment heart check/scan and doc said his heart is very strong and no scare he may collapse in NS. Posted to PES E9 (if i remember correctly) subsequently.

*This high cholesterol will render him buying insurance more troublesome in future (did get him to sign up for the MINDEF $300K cover that doesnt require medical underwriting).
If you think it is hereditary , maybe can do a test of Lp (a).

Not sure whether normal GPs will order such test for you, in my own experience anything not from the normal panel they are not keen or will not order the test for you.

I heard carotid scan (neck arteries, about $300+) may be a good way to see whether you have any clot. If your scan shows clear, then you are indeed in good shape.

*My main concern with statin is the higher risk of diabetes maybe 20 years later. So if my nephew starts statin now, his risk of diabetes may surface when he is around 40 (whereas if a person starts only at around 40 - 50, then diabetes may surface around 60 - 70 which is 'more ok').
You can look for clinical trial to participate that gives you all the screening which may include carotid scan and also CAC scan free of charge, and will also compensate you for your time and transportation cost, so win win situation for both ?

Recently did body checkup, despite taking fish oil for few years still high cholesterol. Thinking of go JB buy some med. Can someone advice which med the best. Many thanks.

Don trust dr about high cholesterol and dr said inherited from family. I used to think so. Till one day my classmate told me how to reduce cholesterol effectively . Classmate was under medication too. And dosage got stronger and he decided to exercise everyday n strict control of diet for 6months. No fried food, no additional sugar , no simple carbo, chemical oils ..... cholesterol level dropped. I did the same too. 3 months of strict diet n daily exercise for 45mins -1hr , cholesterol level dropped too
