Biostar TA785GE + P2X3 710 = $264 (Bell)
2 x 2GB KVR 800 = $78 (Video Pro)
Hitachi 500 = $75
Samsung SATA DVDRW = $31
CM 341 = $59
Andyson F550 = $89 (COMEX)
HIS HD4870 = $179
$765, up to 1920 x 1080 gaming
If this is too much for your games can tone down to 2GB RAM, Acbel E2 470 and $139 Palit HD 4850 for up to 1650 x 1050 gaming for well under $700 hehe

my budget is ard $600++.... n hopefully no need to upgrade pc for next 3-5yrs as i only use it for work at home. i need to open multiple windows to view data onlines n play some low end games...

was wondering if the following enough?

from pcthemes (intel diy package 2 or 3 better?)

$598
intel c2d 3.16ghz (8500)
asus p5kpl-am epu

$628
intel c2d 3.16ghz (E8500)
asus p5qpl(am)

between c2d 3.16ghz(E8500) vs core2 quad 2.83ghz(q9550) which one better?

any recomendation for the motherboard?

Definitely a E8500 will be more than enough.

For $600++ anything less than a quad does not make sense IMO

X4 955 is definitely a better buy than the fastest X4 965.... $75 is not worth the extra 200Mhz increase.... which is something that can be easily done with X4 955 if not guaranteed to be able to OC at least that much.... save the $75 for a nice cooler is better. :D

Assembling a Midrange PC.

Hi all,

I'm trying to assemble a mid-range PC (CPU only). I don play many games. Mostly use my PC for work, and watching loads of videos. Downloaded or streamed ones also watch. My budget is about $700. Hoping that my PC can last for about 3 to 5 years.

Are there any recommendations of what are all the necessaries that I need? I tried looking through the forum but I could not find what i need, and also cannot understand many of the things i read newayz. :s13:

Thanks so much for ur help in advance.

Simple template for you

A2X3 425 + ECS 785GM-M = $246 (Bell)
Link 437 mATX case w/o PSU = $36
2GB ddr3 Crucial = $69 (Video Pro)
Samsung SATA DVDRW = $31
Seagate 160 = $56
Andyson G480 = $59
$487

From here up to you to add more RAMs, bigger HDD, etc

Need setup/template help

Hi,

I just need a entry level setup, any templates to recommend?

I use my PC for the following uses:
-Download torrents
-Watch movies in mkv, rmvb, mp4 & avi format
-Surf net, play games in facebook
-Play no graphic intensive games, except FIFA10 only
-Occasional MS Office usage

Really need you guys' recommendations, I'm new to DIY and on slightly tight budget.

Regards : )

Hi batuchka,

I have a similar request as compositeb as above.
Would like to know if intel chip is possible with the same budget kept at $600+ for everything? What would be the mobo compatible for use?

Another qn: If i do alot of multi-tasking, is 2gb ram enuff for the above setup or do i need to upgrade to 4gb? Thanks in advance.

What gamer profile do you fit i.e

1. Wow game can run on low res/setting - yipee!
2. Turn candy on/off and lower res as per how much i willing to fork out $$ for GPU
3. You mean got people play any less than 1920 x 1080 w/o AA/AF Wow this is news

LOL
