Hi fellows, may I know, for MacBook Pros, does the 3 years’ of AppleCare+ starting counting from the purchase date of the AppleCare, or start counting from the delivered date of the MacBook Pro?

i'm currently looking around for a macbook and i've come to the decision that the 13" fits me best. wanted to ask for browsing, office, emails and a little bit of lightroom, will the base model with 16GB suffice?

Base model all starts at 8GB of RAM. You'll need to configure to 16GB RAM during the selection. In your case, I would rather just go with the Touch Bar 13" with i5 Quad Core chip with Iris Plus 655 and staty on 8GB RAM.

Else, just go with refurbished model with higher configuration at lower price.

thanks for your input. i read that refurbished models, their outlook and exterior has been fixed to make it brand new. so what are we missing if one gets refurbished? just the thought that it's not 'brand new'?

Yes but still come with 1 year warranty and you can buy AppleCare forcit

Bought a fully spec’d out refurbished MacBook Pro in 2013 at a good discount. Never bought apple care for it.

Still as good as new today and plenty of power even by today’s laptop standards.

i've narrowed down a list to what i might be looking for. i'm using a a7rii camera and the RAW files are normally around 40+MB each. i typically export about 50-100 images on my windows desktop but i won't be doing that much on the MBP. just adjusting the RAW files, applying presets and exporting them as JPEG at about less than 10MB. i'm a hobbist taking photos so nothing professional that sort. would i need the 16GB RAM if i were to open lightroom doing all that plus a couple of tabs open on the browser while music is playing on itunes?

again, Lightroom is not the primary feature of this MBP as this is more for school and everyday task away from home with portability in mind.

I personally feel that 16 gigs of ram and 512 storage 2018 is the sweet spot.
The additional storage and ram will go a long way since you're editing photos

Whatever you do though, skip the 2017 model.

For your workflow, an iPad Pro with Apple Pencil might work better for you.

I actually have an 10.5 ipad pro but doing daily task like MS word just doesn't cut it out for me if I'm doing it for hours.

Skip all 2017 models in general.

I guess if you have a good grasp on your workflow, go ahead with the 256.

I bought from carousell for $75 IIRC, which in turn should be from china.

It has numerous ports such as 3 usb 3 ports, hdmi, sd card, ethernet and usb-c power delivery.
