My nas cannot connect after using network switch

i have a feeling that the network switch that you mentioned in the title is a managed network switch. If there is no router in front of the managed switch and you connect the nas to the switch, your nas will not get any ip address.
Suggest you bypass the switch mentioned and plug your nas direct to the router to see if your laptop or computer can see the nas on the network.

I can plug it to my notebook instead of desktop as it very troublesome to keep on moving my nas around

i tried to reset t he network setting, under mode 1

but cannot reset.

1. Mode 1: Press and hold until you hear a beep sound to restore the IP address, DNS server, and password for the admin account to default.
2. Mode 2: Press and hold until you hear a beep, release the button immediately, then press and hold again within 10 seconds to reinstall DiskStation Manager (DSM).

Have you tried plugging in directly?
TBH TS since you got trouble, why not bring to shops that sell Synology ask them if can help
you troubleshoot.

Storage Studio or Memory World at SLS you can check with them whether they can help you or not.
Bascially now you need to configure it first set a static IP inside your router.

bro,I had mentioned in my last post in this thread asking TS to plug the nas direct to the router to see if the laptop or pc can see the nas in the network, but he had not done that.

wakao ah heng, u r using the Asus RT-AC1200G+ router rite?

habe chiu reset router? press the very small reset button on the back of the router. after reset, u access the router admin page. the default user and passwd is "admin" for both fields...

After 2 to 3 pages, you did not even share what's the make and model of your switch or at least draw a diagram to show how you connect your switch to the router?

Many already said, if yours is a managed switch, go read the manual how to set it up. If it's a $28 TP-Link unmanaged switch, there's nothing to setup. You just draw us a diagram how your switch is connected to the router and how your Nas is connected to the switch.

This is practically a easy peasy stuff and yet without you sharing info ... Everything looks like black box.

Even clearer, how you connect previous and how you connect now?

Ur Synology nas hv 2 lan port? If hv, maybe u plug to wrong one. Connect Lan 1 to router lan port.
If u can access ur asus router, go and check if ur nas is connected. Under admin page -> network map, click clients icon and under client status check wired. If u see synology listed, write down the ip and use that ip in browser to access nas.

i have plug out my lan port on my nas to the other lan port in the nas, it still cannot be detected

like that u can try connect direct to pc,

then u redo the network settings in the NAS admin page via web browser.
