Check VQ thread, there are reports of fiber resources delaying installation as well. If MR is giving excuses, how much chances there will be for another provider to be giving same excuses again?

From the account u posted, it could mean that MR is supposed to top it up, but need to get approval from ON because they own the passive infrastructure, and never got the prompt approval. The person replying for Opennet might not know what's going on with the department that is approving the topping up by RSPs.

Of course there are other cases of fibre resource issues which Opennet will have to resolve according to the ICO Agreement.

But in this particular case, we got to see both their reply to the customer, with Opennet contradicting MyRepublic on reason for the delay.

So if it is a tie cable issue at the CO side, then according to the same ICO agreement, it is something the ISP has to monitor and top up accordingly, simply because it is the ISP's equipment.

We can only speculate, customers with two conflicting response will have to pursue them to find out who is telling the truth.

It makes no sense for consumers, at least for me to go chase them and find out who is telling the truth, why:

1)In what capacity are we chasing them for? As a consumer that's infringing in their work/company policy process, and are we from IDA? or some NGO?

2)Are the average consumers well equipped with the knowledge of their work process to critic and judge who is telling the truth? I don't think the average consumers can just read agreements posted by IDA, assume they understand the real meaning, and infer from it to judge. What the agreement says, might be different from things being done on actual ground when many other cock ups might arise.

Called 20 times to whom? Whom you spoke to? Did they inform you delay caused by what?

We are all very well verse of how many screw up ON have since it's launch in Singapore.

And sad to say ON is the only one that control the installation and activation of our TP which I don't think anyone disagree to this point.
So many delay since day 1 of ON and what had been done?

So all ISP is sort of at the mercy of ON(we all know who owns ON) and you really think they will promptly provide you the service in this crazy pricing?

What I meant is I fully agree that MR should buck up and not save cost on their CS. But I quite sure MR also want your business but who else they can turn to when even that time ON just started on installation and so many affected and delay for more than 1 year?

My point is who can MR turn to and complaint that will be effective to make ON be more cooperative?

Fellow end user, I can understand when you complain about speed issue and routing but if it comes to ON installation, 2nd port and fibre take over issue. Shouldn't the fault be more likely fall on ON and not MR?

Look at MR effort of breaking the international capped that force big 3 to do the same!
Look at MR effort to no throttle!
Look at MR being this crazy $49 for 1GBps plans compare to

green same plan at almost $400 and now forced to come up counter of 500MBps at $60+!?? So much differences and not even half of $395.

Red 500m at $79.90 and come up with "the fibre truth"? Why not "the Competition truth"

Orange 1GBps at $399 or 300MBps at $55

Look at the pricing, don't you think it's almost the same? After all these years, profit keep going up so does the pricing and only recent years MR force them to be a little more concern and think twice before admend another unfavorable plan to us consumer.

Guys.. Cut them some slack since MR is a new ISP, no doubt need to improve in many area but hey, they are truly providing a damn good pricing to benefit us end user..

I am not siding anyone. It is both ON and MR. True that $49 is very cheap. Hope end users understand that regardless of isp, internet speed vary from user to user depending on setup, hardwares condition and many other factors, it does not meant that sign 1Gbps sure get 1Gbps download speed. ST 500Mbps is $79/mth is expensive but can always sign during promotion with x mths wavie and with such promotion it knock down the price a bit. True that it is expensive but since it is so expensive why it has so many users? Why? I do not know the answer. Can some smart one share here.

Promotional sales tactics, magical subscription figures that seems to look cheaper overall, long term branding, pure laziness or just simply because of other lock-in that most people chose to stay with the same ISP even if the price offering from other provider is cheaper. Of all the possible reasons, long term branding is one of the most powerful and that is something VQ and MR don't have and also the main reason why more users flock to ST/SH/M1 booth during IT fairs. The same reason why despite having hawker centers that offers cheaper and better food, Macdonalds thats open next to these location will always still have lots of business.

Long branding so powerful? Why? I use wi fi so scan one round my flat. 90% of my neighbour is ST. Hawker not cheap nowadays. I had a plate of fried noodle $4.50 + drinks $1.60 = $6.10 (simple meal) same as fast food restaurant.

yes, long branding is powerful. open your eyes and see instead of comparing non-meaningful things like what you did here.

anyway, most of the people are using ST because they have bundles... TV, Mobile, home phone, internet.
And many subscribers came from the era where phone still connected via a curly cord to the base where only ST is providing the service.
Fast forward, and people not willing to change because they have many services tied to ST.
to de-bundle means issues with contracts.

I went the hard way, and now happily out of ST claws, other than mobile.

give a few more years, where the people who are currently paying pass on, and you will see a brand new wave of users using others' services.

Its already starting... and its beginning with all the current youngsters.

What will happen if any of the 3 ISPs offer $49/mth for 1Gbps plan? I am just asking question.

same, went thru the hard way to ditch the package with SH.
I rather get good quality product for individual service provider in their respective field then rather than subpar product because of bundles. It doesn't make sense for one single telco to be the best in all fields.

Now its mobile M1, Internet MR, TV SH

maybe next time when my priorities change, I'll go back to bundles

If too many jump to MR, traffic light isp will be forced to offer $49/mth and who will consumers sign up? Do not forget that others are leasing infra from ST too.

Time for the ignore list. Guessing that $49.90/mth is just a price to attract new sign up and when there are enough users who enjoy faster speed and get used to the fast speed, price will go up to $59 & $69 after may be 1-3 yrs time.

Guys I think we should just ignore Henry Ng. Bleeding obvious that he/she/it is a troll. So far all his comments are useless and has this one sided hidden message to promote Singtel.

Once challenged and unable to answer he will just run away in avoidance, then to surface again with fresh new nonsense.

Bottomline: Just ignore his/her/it's posts
