Those thinking of getting Yishun, do yourself a favour and try to take the bus to the area when you are free. You will thank me later. There's a reason why interest for the Aug 2016 Yishun plot was of no significant interest.

Rather go Sembawang, wait 2 years for the canberra mrt to be completed than move there sia.

Read carefully la... I never say is good. The often used phrase "birds no lay egg place" should be reserved for the Yishun site lor.

Nearest mrt is 1km away, want walk also cannot, so lan lan take bus. But bus is few and far in between. Take cab leh so expensive for such short trip. So how?

I do not know why, but just felt compelled to take a look at the Woodlands BTO in May 2017.

I do not know what are the future plans that the government is having for Woodlands, all I know is they are tapering down the supply of flats for the next few years, this is at least what I heard. Speaking about the plot in Woodlands, I personally feel that this plot is a very special plot. This plot suits all, but not all suits this plot. Allow me to explain.

Lets have a worst assumption that there are potential in building residential properties inward from where the May BTO plot is, it is still a good plot of land.

Transportation
Okay, far from city. The same old sentence again. To be honest, when life priority changes, I don't think that the city would matter that much. As I mentioned, this is a special plot of land for people who really appreciate the "Woodland Community" lifestyle. It is about 700m from your doorstep to Marsalling MRT. How cool is that. 5-7 mins walk? 2 bus stops. Tops. Whichever way your flat is facing, you have access to the bus stops and roads.

Appreciation
I hate talking about this, because I always feel that a HDB is build from love, a place where a family grows old together. Some may say that I am stupid. To each its own, ok? Say a old couple whose kids moved out to live on their own, they could do a "airbnb" for students who wants to stay near schools such as RP. Earn small money to keep themselves afloat.

Lifestyle.
I sorta feel that that is quite an untouched estate with lots of green. It is on the road of growing into an estate like tampines. Tampines is a gone case concrete jungle. But this plot? not yet. still in their "1970s"

Look at the ameneties around. They are quite good with supermarkets and shops all over. Primary and secondary schools, very good to raise kids there, yet having the touch of the past where nostalgic stalls are still there.

Look further and you know what I want to say. JB. who in the world have Singapore's Mexico in their backyard? Woodlanders. Say a Friday evening, I bring my wife and kids across the causeway, have a good sumptuous seafood dinner, sing abit of K, shop abit, or do a weekend stay at their hotels. Come back to Singapore, refreshed for the week. I am sure others can do better than my suggestions. haha

Trade offs
I guess for those hiam factories and all, will not be suitable for this plot. To me, this plot have a special place in my heart. I quite like that place, don't know why. The view may not be good, but I am sure there wont be any smell because it is quite far away. Perhaps traffic may be bad in the morning. But I still feel that this plot is like a little paradise somehow.

just my .02cents worth

The Geylang plot quite good.

Near CCL Dakota, near EWL Paya Lebar.
When paya lebar airspace cleared, think there will be filled with condos....

stumbled on this map when I was looking at Paya Lebar developments.

The air base would be shifted when the new plot at change is ready.

so next to go is the industrial low floors. Soon would be developments to support the 6.9M population white paper.

soon.... Paya Lebar area may become like Buona Vista(science park)?

Is this bidadari bto in May 2017 the last plot of land available for the Bidadari area?
Been looking at the maps, and seem to be the case.

will the columbarium deter you guys from applying bidadari?

It hope it deters you.

From the application numbers, you will realise it does not have much impact.

This question is a few BTO too late. Bidadari has been hot property for many BTOs already and will continue to follow this trend. So much that the government decides to put it under TPY instead of PP. Some says is to discourage Singles from applying for the 2 room, while some think it is a move to milk the applicants more (mature estates are priced higher).

Whatever the reason is, Bidadari will continue to be the central star of the BTO.;)

That.. the price.. and the low chance of securing an ideal unit..

But then there are so many pros too.. convenient location (only 9 mins mrt ride to DG) and all the good schools..

Jalan Satu/Dua (Dakota) is the best plot to me.

I have been living at Jalan Dua - the block next to this Dakota new BTO plot for the past 9 years. This is the best location to me so far. It is a walking distance to Old Airport Food Centre (160+ stalls), NTUC FairPrice, Kallang Airport Wet Market, Kong Hwa Primary school, and best is Dakota MRT station and Geylang Park Connector (obviously next to the canal). If you work in CBD area, downtown station for instance, it will take around 10-15 mins to reach during peak hours. For me, I could cycle to work via Geylang Park Connector towards Tanjong Rhu and pass Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay to my office which is about less than 30 mins ride. This place is convenient everywhere and best if you prefer the east side more than the west. And even with the current 10-storey flat, we are able to watch fireworks from Stadium every time. My family applied for Macpherson Spring and we already got it. Now we really regret but hope our current block can be en bloc before we move since this block is close to 50 years old. The application for this Dakota BTO is gonna be crazy!

For someone who never stay around this area, you might think this area near Geylang is bad. I can tell you there is no mix of those hanky panky here. Those are only in Geylang Lorongs. Dakota is dominantly residential area with families with the youngs and elderly.

Good Luck to those who apply for this plot!
