Can someone enlighten me on this:

Say 100 SBF flats, 50 first timer applicants, 50 second timer applicants.

SBF flats 95% for FTs and 5% for STs.

In this case, will the 50 FTs ballot first and get the first 50 number? Or all 100 applicants ballot in the same pot?

All 100 will ballot in the same POT.
Some will get 2 chances as they have schemes, the best number will be their finals Q number lor

2nd timer might even get a better number than 1st timer

100 flats, 1st timer 95% = 95 units
100 flats, 2nd timer 5% = 5 units

As long as 2nd timer there's 5 units selected, the rest of the 2nd timers got no chance loh....

hmmm... am i right ? :s11:

Mind asking you how old? Other half working? As long household got dual-income, in stable job, should not have problem paying for house loan. Of course, provided financially disciplined.

Don't worry so much, dont need stress about it. Most friends I know pay it off before they turn 40. And after that, all get Private Condo to stay while renting out the HDB.

Does anyone know why the application rate for 2 room SOBF units in all non mature estates under Singles Scheme are "NA" while only Punggol ones have 500+ application rate ? :o:s11:

Too few units, so all will be for first timer and elderly. You won't get into the 100%. But u might still have a chance. Let's say Bukit Batok got 16 units. You will never get a queue number below 16. But if u got number 17 and someone decided not to select a flat then u got a chance to choose flat.

See the rules here:
HDB conducts a balloting of the flat applications received and issues queue numbers up to 300% of the flat supply. Where the flat supply is less than 34 units and there are more elderly and first-timer families than the flat supply, elderly and first-timer families will be shortlisted within 100% of the flat supply and thereafter, there may be second-timer families and first-timer singles depending on the balloting.

Only punggol got more than 34 units, but 60% for non elderly and only 5% of the 60% is for single, that means only one unit is allocated for single. I am guessing there are 555 single fighting for that unit.

Fellow hopefuls, got a question...

Should we be looking at number of applicants or first timer application rate?
Say... for the previous SBF, Bedok had 25 4RM units, 268 applicants - this means 10X oversubscribed? And the first timer application rate was 7.8 - does this mean 7.8 persons trying to get 1 unit?

This time more open to different areas... so trying to gauge my chances.

If you're a first timer then just see first timer ratio..

If it's 7.8 for FT then yes, 7.8 applicant to a unit...

Depends on whether you're a first timer or not. If you're a first timer, looking at the first timer application rate would work. In your example, an application rate of 7.8 would mean something like that, 7.8 people vying for one flat.

It does get more complicated than that though. You'll need to look at the breakdown of racial quotas for the flats. There tend to be more flats available to Malay/Indian/Other races than for Chinese. So depending on your race, you might have a higher or lower chance.

As an example, take Bukit Merah 5room flats as an example. There are 25 units with a FT application rate of 1.4. Good right? Not so, if you're Chinese, as there are only 4 flats available for Chinese. They don't give a racial breakdown for the application rate. So assuming maybe 60% of those applying are Chinese, the Chinese application rate shoots up to a crazy amount. On the other hand, if you're Malay/Indian/Other Race, you pretty much are guaranteed to get a flat.

You'll also want to look at the locations of the flats as well as the pricing. There might be 25 flats, but how many are in a location that is desirable? If the flat is desirable, is the asking price too high?

So try to understand what the figures mean and what your actual chances are and pick one that you think gives you the best chance to get what you want.

Everything said, it comes down to luck. If you are lucky, the application rate could be a 1million, and you might still get the flat.

Does anyone knows does HDB filters off the applicants first before ballot?

Example:
1) say somebody age 20years old (below 21yo legal age) applies for flat.

or

2) say somebody < 35, not married, purposely go n submit an application, pay $10 for fun.

or

3) a person haven even fulfill his MOP, go and tikam.

Will (1) and (2) and (3) goes into the ballot and stand a chance to get a queue number?

or HDB is smart enough to check strike them off before balloting? (1) (2) and (3) are very easy to check right? except things like income criteria, this one more difficult to check through.

if HDB not smart, i want i can play punk... i can get many people to just login and apply for a flat, pay $10 for fun. and then in the end all of them assigned a queue number then never turn up.

I don't think so... I remember someone came here to complain abt HDB, allow her and her husband to submit their application when both of them were PR.

The best thing is, they got a small number but couldn't book a flat coz none of them were citizen.
