Some remain, some cross over to become Resident Engineer, some change job to become Project Engineer, Design Engineer, Lecturer & etc.

Most of the leadership positions like Project Managers and Construction Managers are reserve for foreigners, so it hard to move up to leadership position & sometime the reason is as funny as their salary is only $2K+ to $3K+. Of course, there are some taking around $6K to $8K or more than $10K.

For example, PRCs will hold Project Managers and Construction Managers. Then they will hire other foreigners like Filipinos if they needs more Construction Managers. Why not local cause foreigners are pay low wages (can be surprising $2K++ with long working hours & no OT pay).

So industry do not have much local talents and when other foreigners like Filipinos gains their Singapore experience, they will jump to Japanese companies to have more benefits & earn more wages but doing the same job scope. You will be surprised that Project Managers and Construction Managers from some companies do not have any or very limited power cause the one with power is the Project Director.

PE life is tough now in Singapore. Reward is so so and high responsibility.

thats why i went to uk for my BEng and taking my MEng in Hk now. going for their HKIE Scheme A and Corporate Member of HKIE and CIBSE CEng MCIBSE. Don't know by then, come back sg can change PE anot

Experience as sub-con for working in construction sites. Was MA too for facility management industry to deal with PE.

Was never an Engineering Graduate from local university, so not qualified for PPE.

Don’t see it as an end goal good luck for the paper!

Are you taking or alreadya PE ?

Yes, I understand it is just a start, I'm lucky to have a few PEs n LEW9s as my supervisors, so just trying my luck. Lots of things to learn for LV & HT. I'm electrical branch, so PE is min. requirement for LEW9, hopefully 20 years later can get...

Currently in power engineering field, have chance to do some work related to LEW.

This two days on course on high voltaGE operation. Lots of things I Duno like switching sequence n how to do it. Kena grilled by the LEW9. But very good.

I just wanted to add that I recently graduated with a MSc in Structural Engineering from the University of Birmingham, but my BSc in Civil Engineering is unfortunately not accredited/recognized by PEB. I am searching for a job now, but I guess that non-accreditation is really killing all my chances at finding a job related to this industry right now (and that MSc isn't improving my chances like I hope it would).

Too bad I only realized this a little too late and I admit that I have not done enough homework on this topic before I went for the BSc, and this thread came a few years too late as well . Regardless for those of you with the experience and knowledge towards such matters and the engineering industry, may I ask if there is still a way to get around this problem (aside from returning to school again)? Or should I just give up trying to find work in this industry and move on?

1) If you study on-campus for your BSc / MSc, you can top up with NUS / NTU MSc in Civil to be recognized by PEB Sg.

2) If you give up PE Status as per point 1, you can only try to apply for RTO (your quantification not recognized for RE) provided you have relevant experience.

Closing date for this year fee is 30 june seen from the website

Any body going for refresher course or studying urself? I haven start studying. Rusty already. Calculator battery also drain finish.
