I have press option during startup and found other than macintosh HD I still have recovery disk Maverick inside. Is this a partition also?

Then I proceed to erase Macintosh HD but how come took only 3-5second and is it completely wipeout or not?

As I said before, you would want to repartition the whole drive instead of just formatting Macintosh HD.

If you follow my steps in previous post, it should remove the Mavericks recovery partition as well.

Once you installed Yosemite, it will generate a Yosemite recovery partition alongside the main partition "Macintosh HD"

Yes formatting and repartitioning will only take a few minutes max unless you went for secure erase option which will take forever(7-pass to be specific)

My wifi seem to be very cranky after the update.
The connection keeps dropping even when the signal is strong.

it was fine for me, i am still able to boot into windows without any problem after the upgrade.

i guess you was just unlucky.

I haven't even tried yet. Scared to try after Win 8.1 wouldn't even install on Mavericks and I had to do an erase and uninstall before it worked.

just to note, my windows 8.1 was a fresh install from windows 8. i didn't create any new bootcamp partition after mountain lion. especially when windows 8 wasn't supported on my 2010 mbp

1. Hourly Time Machine Backups always failed because "It can't find Time Capsule Backup Disk".

2. AirPort Utility can't find AirPort Time Capsule (2TB, purchased in May 2014). A yellow triangle icon was shown said that TC was previously part of the network but can't be found now.

I have no problem with Internet connection, just Mac's AirPort Utility and Time Machine always failed on finding TC. iPad/iPhone AirPort Utility works fine.

I have tried followings suggested by senior Apple Support:
1. Change IPv6 to Link-Local
2. Switch off and on Wi-Fi, or switch from 5Ghz to 2.4Ghz
3. Reset PRAM
4. Install a fresh 10.10 on a small partition.

Some worked, only for a while, then the same problem came again.

did you try factory resetting the Time Capsule and set it up to join your current network? if i get you correctly, you are actively connected to another wifi network but just using the Time Capsule to back up wirelessly?

Can you explain your setup?

Other than the time capsule, what other network devices(modems/routers) you have and how they are connected?(wireless or wired?)

Example: Fiber broadband ONT <- Ethernet -> ISP issued router <- Ethernet or wireless? -> Time Capsule

Does it detect the time capsule if you connect an ethernet cable directly from the mac to the time capsule?

I don't have problem with TC, all other devices are able to find it except Mac after upgrade to 10.10.

It connects to only one wi-fi network, always.

That's the purpose of isolation. If you wire it up and it works then we can isolate the problem to only wifi and think of steps to fix that - if we hold on to the thought that it works with previous version, my only recommendation is restore back from time machine when it was on 10.9.

TC is connecting the Modem that ISP gave, that Modem is a Modem-Router-Wireless 3-in-one device, but it has disabled Router function so it is only the bridge between TC and Fiber OTP, all Wireless / DHCP / NAT / Port Forwarding / IPv6 things are done on TC.

But, I guess I may find out why the issue happens, not 100% sure but possibility is high. I think I have to restart TC and Homeplug in sequence, I never took home plug offline when I did reboot of TC, that may result in something strange... I have done that 1 hour ago, so far so good, AirPort Utility hasn't complained for "Device Not Found" error yet. I will monitor it for few more days.

My wi-fi does not have issue at all, just some apple-made apps couldn't see time capsule.

This didn't solve the problem, even I completely turn off home plug, the same issue came back again, TC disappeared from AirPort utility and Time machine.

BTW, there are many many many complaints in Apple discussion forum, users reported exact the same issue that I have.

It is intermittent but you don't know when it will fail and when it will be able to connect. The funny thing is even airport utility or time machine fails, I am still able to connect to TC via finder via afp, I thought time machine is using aft too?

Regarding factory reset and wire, I read some users' posts, they tried with no lucky.

When you connect via finder, it's from the sidebar? That reminds me of bonjour, have you reviewed this article - Fix Wi-Fi Problems in OS X Yosemite | OSXDaily

Especially the following section but I would try each one of them.

Unload & Reload discoveryd to Fix DNS & Wi-Fi Failures in OS X Yosemite

Open Terminal (found in /Applications/Utilities/ or with Spotlight) and enter the following command:

sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.discoveryd.plist

Hit return and enter an admin password to use the sudo command
Now run the following command to reload discoveryd (this used to be called mDNSResponder)

sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.discoveryd.plist

Again hit Return to finish the command

If you feel you've exhausted all options, contact back the senior advisor you've spoken to and request for it to be escalated to the engineering team, he/she should request to capture data of your mac to be sent over to the engineering team for further investigation - Best to do it while booted to the clean OS so that they don't have room to blame your 3rd party softwares installed.
