toner only 30% used, and lexmark told me to get a new one ~@#$%^&!

anyone has idea of fixing the toner is feasible.

Yes it is spoilt. No choice you have to buy new cartridge already. I wouldnt recommend Lexmark. Though the printer is good but the cartridge is expensive and hard to source at retail outlets. Unless you call them directly.

which brand of toner cheapest?

Brother toner is the cheapest but you have to maintain the drum.

Next follow by Fuji Xerox, only consumables is the toner. No drum worries.

I'm thinking of buying a toner for my Samsung printer ML-1660 at the PC Show next weekend. Will the PC Show sell Samsung toners? And roughly how much is it retailing in Sim Lim, 'cause I would like a price comparison.

Not really since toner is in solid form. Wouldn't really dry up but will stick together under humid condition. If the storage condition is right, should be no problem to last a while.

btw whats the max amt of color a laser printer currently used? still 4? inkjet is 6 right?

I saw some really good ones, but they are too big, more for manufacturing companies.

Original is around $102 for 1,500 page yield. As for sim lim, if authorised dealer it may be $10-$20 cheaper.

As for compatible it is $59 same page yield.

Dont worry about it. This is a manufacturing defect for Lexmark toner cartridge. Not the fault of the printer.

Chances of you being affect by this manufacturing defect is pretty slim.

The best printout quality of color is still by Fuji Xerox SLED series. 2400 x 1200 DPI.

Depending on what features do you need like print scan copy or print only or 4 in 1??

If you dont need duplex than it would not be too big.

Yes the inkjet with the best print out quality still uses 6 ink cartridges while colour laser uses 4 toner cartridges.

Edit. Large format inkjet printer of some brands have 12 ink cartridges

I have a Canon MX-886. I bought this model cause it can do duplex ADF scanning. I like the inkjet printer except that I also print quite a lot of pdf in bw. The printer ink runs out quickly.

So what are my option ? I should get a laser printer to just print duplex BW or should I get one that can do duplex scanning and replace the inkjet printer ?

The HWZ tech award editors choice 2012 is Fuji Xerox M205fw.

Mono 4in1 and wireless.

Printer quite valued for money at $309+$30 ntuc vouchers last show.

However, dont have duplex and airprint :/

You may want to consider Brother MFC-7860dw
