I have done two implant. One of the implant is a replacement for the root canal. The root canal has been there for 7 years and then it start to cause infection nearby.
Which did you have your rct done?

The are cases of failure in rct especially when canal is not cleaned well especially inside the deeper end of the root or for other reasons.
Most cases, retreatment can be done. Some cases, retreatment didnt help.

In your case, if rct has failed multiple times or the structure becomes too week, next thing to do is implants.

Even though rct, if done well, has above 90% chance of long-term success, one will never know why exactly cases can go wrong.

Fortunately, the lastest irrigation using laser has proven to clean the canal thoroughly using bubbling effects, even the hardest, furthest parts of the roots. Find a dental with laser irrigation will definitely a good choice. Laser also can disinfect tissues and kill bacterias underneath your gums.

PM me next time if you need recommendations

I got my root canal done more than 10 years ago when I was still a student it died about 3 years ago. After that I don't believe in root canal and treatment anymore because it's just mummifying a dead tooth. Following this event go regular dental checkup and the dentist actually say there's a need to fill up every single tooth right and don't let any tooth decay. During my recent event right like in the month of April to June right I went for dental check out for total of four times, had 3 filling done.

Actually, I think you probably read too much into the risk of rct especially nowadays many talked about how keeping a dead tooth could lead to general health issue.

Because you now has an implant on, just like when you first had your RCT done back then, you think implant is better solution than RCT and is going to last till end of time... I think you may also get it wrong too.

Truth is implants failures cases are widely reported. Think about it, implants are also foreign object planted into your body, but this case to your bone. When implants fail, it may be due to infection or worst bone loss. The retreatments are even more problematic.

Do google terms like 'Peri-implantitis' or implant disease to find out more.

Also, when one grow old, our bones will weakened, the implants you get now also will also one day becomes too weak to hold in place too.

So, to me, it is still better to do RCT if our tooth need to be saved.. If the tooth can't be saved, then we have no choice but to go for implants.

cracked tooth with symptoms need to do root canal?
warm things give sensitivity, biting on hard things, like seeds, some skin, fibrous stuff give some pain

the generalist at ndc says need to drill thr the crack and see where it lead to. then decide whether can do root canal or extraction
but the ndc specialist says if symptom not affecting daily life, then can do a temp crowning first, then decide after a few weeks.
if need root canal after crowning, can drill thr the crown.

went to the private specialist, they just says do root canal if have symptom.

I am leaning to specialist. For few reasons.

1. They are specialists for a reason. They have seen much more cases or symptoms which eventually lead to root canal treatment.

2. Biting causes pain is already quite obvious. Please do not delay the treatment.

3. Putting temporary crown is counter productive and not cost effective. Especially you need to drill off the crown to do rct when pain still exist. Don't think crowning is cheap.

Please hurry get it treated.

for crowning, what fee are involved?
fee for crown making
is there another surgery fee?
NDC says $1100 for crown
$1000 for surgery? (crown lengthening)
root canal $400+ for subsidized price (by dental officer)🤯
specialist $1100
crown so expensive?
more expensive than private

Crown below 1,000 can still find I think but not best quality especially in terms of strength and color. Since your is molar, better get best quality zirconia crown in order to have better bites.

Try Malaysia if cost is a concern, probably can save some $$ but you waste time going in.

These days NDC no longer cheap.

For crown, depends on material. Also I think private is still 10% to 20% more costly.

$1,000 for crown lengthening is absurd. Please use a private dentist with dental laser to do crown lengthening, better for you, less painful, better recovery and less invasive. You will thank me for that. PM me for the dentist who can do it using the best laser.

Root canal pls use a specialist so that it is done right and no complication.

Laser dentist will clean the canal very well for you.

My advice is still visit the dentist can do both endo and crown lengthening using her laser.

PM me if you need her contact.

they says don't need crown lengthening.
subsidized root canal done by senior dentist (Registrar and above)

if choose dentist: $1300-1430 otherwise $390-430
crown:900-1k
but have appointment , still need to wait 1hr+. worse is they says cannot finish and have come one more time.
and different dentists give contrasting opinions :spin:
one says have symptoms need to do, the other says not infected, don't need

Sometimes good to do a full xray and get 2nd opinion. Went to the eunos mrt dental the dentist told me need root canal and crown. Then went national dental centre for 2nd opinion and end up just need to do filling. Now no major issues.
Agree-2nd opinion impt. Ntuc dental blur+said nid RootCanal $2k find endodontist. Lucky nex went Toothsmith PotonPasir Mrt & DrOng say my case no nid RootCanal; filled cavity=solved. Saved $2K :D

I got a quote from two dental clinics near my workplace and my hood area. Elite Dental Group and Frank Dental. The cost for the first one was $500 - $850 for root canal treatment and $1,500 - $2,000 for crowning. Frank Dental was $600 for root canal treatment and $800 for crowning, which is fairly reasonable. I did not have to pay for the consultation and X-rays.

Root canal treatment is very expensive in Singapore but I don't really have the time to go over to Malaysia to do treatment.

Yesterday went polyclinic to do filling coz the root canal teeth got chipped off. Dentist did a x scan and mentioned the root area like have infection, might need to redo root canal re-treatment again. She mentioned can refer me to ndc. Meanwhile she help me do filling for that teeth and cost me about $100 after subsidy.

Now considering should i go for the root canal treatment. I wonder how much the cost will like.

Quickly go to seek a second opinion and if need be, do a re-treatment with laser disinfection for better outcome if possible. You do need to remove all the infection in your tooth and surrounding tissues.
