I use my 2200G 65W and my 3500U 15W to do video encoding for whole day.
They both perform on par with each other.

This is a CPU specific kind of workload which is probably why you don't see significant difference in performance with different TDP. I feel considering that 2200G (4c/4t) is keeping up with the 3500U (4c/8t), it is already a sign that the higher TDP is allowing the 2200G to keep up with the higher threaded 3500U by means of higher sustained clockspeed.

The conversion rate is a super optimistic scenario. For that price (below 500 SGD), if you look up on Asus NUC typed barebone systems, you will likely end up with one that runs on Celeron/ Pentium chips.

I get it that you are using existing USD exchange rate for the conversion, but the reality is that that never ever happens when you find the product locally. I am expecting this to be no less than 550 to 600+ bucks at least when it ends up on our shores.

Which similar Ryzen Mini PC? I hope you are not referring to the China brands though. Because you ought to be aware of the infamous "Asus tax". It may be the same machine, but just the Asus label on it will give it a different price tag.

And yes, those are Intel models. But again, those are their product stacks for different price segments. While AMD APUs may be cheaper than Intel's, the PC maker is not obliged to sell it at a lower price and cannibalize their existing product stack.

Anyway, we can see the actual price when it reaches our shores. No need to speculate further here.

hi guys, i pretty noob in the mini pc space. need some advice and guidance.

I plan to get one to use as media PC for living room TV. i do blueray rips into my nas and use a laptop (hook to tv) for playback. More often, we use MEMU to play online variety shows or serials. But unfortunately, the laptop uplorry, so i am planning to get a mini pc instead.

Any recommendations for me?
1) Able to play back 10-30gb blueray media files without issues
2) Able to run Memu or Bluestacks with hardware acceleration
3) Gigabit ethernet (WIFI not required as i have a LAN switch connected to router & NAS)

Not considering Android media box as they tend to "hang" with large media files playback over LAN.

just an update on the AMD 2500u minipc i bought. I have changed the nvme ssd that come with it to a WD black SN750 500GB. Now the nvme speed is at full now at pcie3 x 4 at about 3100mb/s speed.

Wonderful now.

Only for OEM manufacturer and not available for retails according to AMD.
But U can try TB in a few months time...
