Currently using MR 1GBps and Xiaomi AX3600 (I think) router since 2 years ago. MR contract is exciting this August. I'm paying $39.99 per month currently.

4 person in the flat, with each 2 hp + 1 MiTV and 2 tablets. Intend to upgrade to 3GBps plan, but will need to buy a new router since the AX3600 maybe cannot support up to 3GBps.

Hence, since Simba is giving a DLink router now for the 2yrs 10gbps plan, I'm thinking of signing up for it. We are not power user. Although I have static IP with MR, but never got around to use it...nice to have, but don't have a need for it.

The free DLink router and $30 for 10gbps price is what's pushing me to even consider Simba. The alternative is I upgrade to MR 3gbps plan with free TPlink router (think Archer something one) at $38.. I was thinking, even I can't get 8/9 Gbps, if can get close to 5gbps, it would still be worth it if I sign up for Simba..

anyone can advise?
Another thing you have to consider is that Simba uses CGNAT. Your IP address might be shared with other people (correct me if I'm wrong).

You were also saying that your old router Ax3600 cannot support 3gbps. But if you are not a power user, you can actually re-use if the router serves you well. Moreover, if you upgrade, not necessary your current phones is capable of that high speeds of 3gbps download speed.

I'm currently using M1 6gbps, they provided me a free WiFi 7 TPLink Be805 router. I don't have any WiFi 7 devices at home, the closest I got is WiFi 6E on my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, fastest wifk download speed on my phone is 1.8gbps.

Next my desktop lan maxed out at 2.5gbps, so I could only get maximum of 2.5gbps download speed. If I want faster, I will need to upgrade my LAN NIC.

So if you are not a power user, these are some other things you might need to consider. MR 3gbps $38 is not really that cheap though, M1 is cheaper, last week they still had the promo of 6gbps at $34.90.

Anyone using TP-Link DXS-F108T and just connect directly to ONT like how they show the network diagram in their datasheet?

Google the above the DXS-F108T seems to be a D-Link switch rather than a TP-Link product or router.

I have both. TP-Link HB710 from Starhub at S$192 and TP-Link Archer BE805 at S$300.

HB710 at S$192 is a superb buy for its price. It is supposed to be only for Starhub customers but I understand some Starhub shops do not check the status of the buyer.

Benefits of TP-Link Archer BE805 versus HB710.
1) Main benefit of Archer BE805 is better wireless coverage.
2) TP-Link Archer BE805 also has much faster CPU so you may get better performance when using VPN server/client.
3) TP-Link Archer BE805 is a consumer model and it supports Wireguard VPN server/client whereas HB710 does not support Wireguard VPN server/client. TP-Link service provider models like EB810v and HB710 may also receive slower updates and bug fixes compared to consumer models. HB710 is also supposed to be mainly used by Starhub or MR customers, even though there are reports that you can still get FW updates outside SH/MR networks.
May I know which shop do not check buyer status?

Not so sure. You may want to check with Starhub 5Gbps thread.

But in reality, no need to go to Starhub shop to buy HB710 now. The price of TP-Link HB710 BNIB set is even cheaper than Starhub list pricing of S$192 in Carousell. I see quite some listings at around S$180 so you may even get HB710 less than S$180.

This is way better than Simba issued D-Link DPN-BE7212GR in terms of CPU, RAM and Wireless spec.

The other higher end ones to consider
1) TP-Link Archer BE805 (recommended if using as a single router) dumped by M1 users.
2) Asus ZenWiFi BT10 (good for mesh if you need two units to form a mesh) dumped by M1 users.

Usually is the hardware the user having that is the joke...

First you would need a router with more than 1Gbps ports, this is the main bottleneck.

Then your hardware got to have decent network port or WiFi connection.

My router is tp link hb710 with 2 10gbps port, WiFi 6mhz. I don't aspect to Reach 8000-9000mbps at but at least 5000mps as my device max supported speed is 5700mps.

Try using wired connection directly to the ONT to test. If you can get a good speed, then the problem is not with SImba but with your router.

You can also first try to use a different LAN cable to try to your router. I encountered similar case before. Somehow the cable has some faulty but it still can connect, just that the speed is slow.

Does your machine that you connect to the router even have a 10g network card? There is network card that is 1g/10g not multi-gig, if your lan cable is not up to mark it will drop all the way to 1g instead of 2.5 or 5g.
