anyone here using two isp together with SIMBA trial broadband? Using both ports, so probably like SIMBA wired directly into Desktop PC and other ISP wired into router?

My contract with my ISP ends in November.

sorry, what i mean is anyone here using 2 ISP at your house, fully utlising both fibre TP ports. One for Simba, and another port another ISP.

cos my current ISP contract will only end in november. Not sure if this simba fibre is a promo, or if i want to try simba alongside my current ISP.

My setup is quite simple for now, i have 1 router (with 2.5gps port), router connected to ONT connected to TP. My router has ethernet cable conencted to my desktop PC in my room. Ethernet cable also connected to my TV.

--
If i were to get Simba fibre alongside my current M1 ISP, i am thinking to try direct from ONT to my desktop PC to fully utlise the 2.5gbps. For the last 9 months till my ISP contract ends.

hello! You guys mentioned about CGNat and the lack of public IPv4 for simba, does this affect torrenting connectivity? If still can torrent will I be connected to lesser peers and seeders? Any one can shed some light on this?
Unfortunately SIMBA has no static IPv4 add-on now. Using CGNAT and no IPv6 for now.

This can pose challenge for people who want to use things like DDNS and VPN server on the home network.

If you need this type of features, then you do not want to go with SIMBA right now. Better to wait.

Sorry but I do not use Bit Torrent. And in fact I support ISP policy of throttling the BT traffic (using Singtel and Starhub and both of them carry out traffic shaping), just my personal opinion though.

I tend to think it will not really affect bit torrent. Hopefully real networking experts can come in and comment.

Reference: this seems a bit chim.

M1 no torrent throttling. I can download Ubuntu ISO image song song 20MB/s using 500mbps plan

There are some arguments whether M1 has throttling or not. 20MB/s is not really fast to download the Ubuntu ISOs as there are local mirrors.

If you really care about throttling, then the following is based on the reports.
VQ=MR > M1 > Starhub > Singtel >=Whizcomms

SIMBA also claims no throttling as long as the network can handle.
https://support.simba.sg/hc/en-us/articles/26549280257433-Does-SIMBA-impose-any-bandwidth-limit

Does SIMBA impose any bandwidth limit?

No, we do not. SIMBA manages our network with a flexible traffic data prioritisation system. This means that as long as the SIMBA network has the capacity, your BitTorrent can run as fast as possible that your computer and connection allow.

20MB/s is consider fast already because for 500mbps maximum download speed is only 62MB/s. and somemore if I download via HTTPS for the ISO local mirror max i can get is less than 10MB/s usually is single digit.

ok. so I just want to share M1 should not have throttle the torrent. if they had then the torrent speed will be crawling.

Even with throttling, I can get more than 20MB download speed with Singtel. So it is not true that download speed with be caraling with throttling.

There were tests done last time, even with throttling, you can get 300Mbps to 400 Mbps with Ubuntu ISO download, way faster than 20MB (160Mbps) you mentioned.

Just a quick test using wireless and it shows 35.9MB/sec using qBitTorrent (just downloaded and without any configuration changes, it is you can change some settings to get faster speed to work around the throttling from Singtel or Whizcomms).

20MB/s is slow, you're probably disk limited.

Same on M1 500Mbps, speed might be more consistent if I turn the traffic shaper back on.

Single stream HTTPS download seem to be capped at ~100Mbps, but if I download over multiple streams I can max out my connection.

Edit: Traffic shaper turned on, I'm downloading consistently above 40MB/s

I just tried to download again. I can get 53MB/s 80% of the time. almost max out my 500mbps. I'm using transmission btw.

Just a side note, you can get backed off by M1's upstream bandwidth limiter on multistream downloads if you consistently average above your subscribed speed.

That's why the download is a bit slower and the speed has that more jialat see saw pattern when i have the traffic shaper turned off.
