Seems like your router should be fine. I Felt sometime not right so I went feedback to them with screenshots taken from speedtest.
After all, I can't complain much for the price just that quite disappointed that the speed not even close to 1gpbs.
Below is what's they had replied and will take sometime to go ping pong with them but I guess only direct wired connection it will be able to hit more than 1gbps.

If you're doing the test over WiFi, it's not helping your case that the issue is simba. different test servers have different sensitivity to latency, and that could be the reason why they test differently. Retest on LAN

This is the right way to carry out the test. 1.8Gbps is not that high for a 2.5Gbps service but quite okay considering the price of S$21.80 per month.

Your RT-AX88U does not have a 2.5G port and that indeed will limit your internet speed to 1Gbps. If you carry out OOkla SpeedTest you should probably get above 900Mbps. If you get much lower results (say below 800Mbps), then there is a problem and you need to troubleshoot that first

Another thing, if the wired test result is above 900Mbps yet the fact it is not exceeding 1Gbps bothers you, you will need to change your main router to 2.5G capable routers like Asus TUF-AX6000 (dual 2.5G ports). Get a USB to 2.5G adapter as well if you do not have a 2.5G enabled wired device. Then you can carry out wired test just like the SIMBA installer.

For wireless test, it depends on may factors. You need to get your wired test results proper before troubleshooting wireless results.

My recommnedation is usually to go with Asus AImesh.
Main router -- TUF-AX6000
Mesh node -- TUF-AX6000/TUF-AX4200

If you do not mind no locale warranty, then you can get Asus TX-AX6000 (China version of TUF-AX6000) at a very good price from Taobao. Of course you can also go with Xiaomi BE7000 or BE6500 Pro with quad 2.5G ports.

2.5G swtiches are also very affordable if you do not mind no local warranty (below S$100). Please refer to the 2.5G home networking thread.

SIMBA only provides support for connectivity issues. We do not provide technical support pertaining to speed test results.

Actually you should not use RT-AX86U's built-in OOKla SpeedTest app result as the CPU (as well as the whole system) is too slow to handle 2.5G WAN speed. I have the RT-AX86U myself and the built-in SpeedTest app can not really report the correct download speed for my Singtel 1Gbps plan. But when I test with a laptop there is no issue.

You may want to use a laptop with 2.5G network adapter and try again.

Indeed that may not be the best but should not be a big problem in this case. Usually those 2.5G USB adpater has no issues to get 2.37Gbps which is anyway higher than the upper limit of what you can typically get from GPON ONT.

I see, I don't have a 2.5G network adapter right now but I tried using my phone to test, got a maximum of 1.6 Gbps down. Still not close but at least better than the router's built-in test.

That at least means your SIMBA 2.5G has pretty decent wired speed. When you get 1.6Gbps download speed using WiFi, your wired speed should be even faster. It may well be the wired speed is at 1.8Gbps as mentioned in other reports.

BTW, Ugreen USB to 2.5G adpater is pretty cheap. For example, you can get them from their official Shopee store. There are other brands as well.

For Asus AImesh node, just get another Asus TX-AX6000 (China version) as the price is pretty good. Or if you want to save some bucks, then you can choose other options, like the RT-AX3000P which is at about S$80 BNIB from Carousell

Or you can get another Asus China version router as the AImesh node.

I guess even if you test with LAN connection, your router needs to have at least 1x2.5G WAN & 1x2.5G LAN port. PLUS your computer's LAN port is also 2.5G. In order to get the max bandwidth for testing.

My pc which when connected with 1G (both SH and MR) can achieve 900+ up down. BUt when switched to Wifi6, the max i can get is 750+, and it has almost diagonal line of sight with router and a wardrobe blocking in between.

So wireless test is not the best way. Anyhow, like other bruhs mentioned, for this price. Can't complain much.

I think you can forget about SIMBA if you really need to have digital voice line.

As far as I know, only SingTel allows standalone home digital line and the total cost is very high, S$10 per month and >S$200 one time charges.
