Marketing promotions all have an expiry date, depending on their financial year/quarterly budget.
They might have another round when network is available for all locations. See if you want to wait.
But then, 21.80 a month already saved a lot $.

When I feedback to SIMBA that i wasn't getting anywhere near 2.5 Gbps on my router (RT-AX86U), this is what they reply.

Feels like the speed you get depends on your location, that's what

They don't have good pipes to the Speedtest servers.. i'm seeing the same results on my 2.5G Firewalla..
Occasionally can get 1600-1800+ on GSL network test servers, but most of the servers hover around 800-1100 only.

Want to test, can try using Steam downloads to test on a very fast PC that can saturate the pipes?

There is a problem with SIMBA that it uses CGNAT and without public IPv4 or IPv6 address.

If not then two SIMBA users can help each other to set up libreSpeed test server or iperf3 server on a computer. Then can carry out port-fowarding in the router so that the other side can carry out the test.

Reference:
1) librespeed
https://github.com/librespeed

2) iperf3
https://iperf.fr/
https://github.com/ar51an/iperf3-win-builds

Example using my two Singtel public IPv4 addresses. Port forwarding done on the Asus RT-AX86U router. Asus DDNS is also used.

hmm....I plug a LAN cable directly from the modem to my PC, I get only about 1GBps nia...how come....

Does your PC has 2.5G network adapter? If not you need to get a 2.5G adapter. Your can go with cheap USB to 2.5G adapter, or you can get PCIE adapter if you are using a desktop.

Personally I use Ugreen USB 3.0 to 2.5G adapter, which is not expensive. There are other brands as well. You can also buy branded from local IT shops like Challenger.

thanks ,...for wireless part, my phone is wifi6. Previously with viewquest 1Gbp. I can get up to 700-800 mbps standing next to my router AX88U.

but currently with simba download speed is only 200-300 (upload speed is 700 plus)..

can't be router right

I see, I don't have a 2.5G network adapter right now but I tried using my phone to test, got a maximum of 1.6 Gbps down. Still not close but at least better than the router's built-in test.

Are there any bottlenecks at the router or phone taking into consideration that wifi operates at half duplex?

The speed test app allows selecting different test servers. You can try picking other servers within the same distance from you and test them at non-peak hours. Based on my experience, the choice of servers can affect the speed by a lot. Sometimes, even picking the same server as the ISP does not guarantee the best speed.

I tend to think the issue is with SIMBA side (maybe routing issue to the test server). But you have to debug the wired test first. In order to report the issue to SIMBA, you have to show the wired test results.

Since SIMBA does not provide the router, it is good also good to carry out the test by directly connecting your PC to the ONT. In you particular case, even without 2.5G adapter, you can test with with gigabit Ethernet adapter first to see if you get 900Mbps+ or not.

If you use RT-AX88U (1Gbps WAN) and then wired results is 900Mbps+ (wired test is okay), yet wireless download test result is only 200-300Mbps, then SIMBA can easily say it is your wireless router or wireless device problem.

And you also mentioned that SIMBA installer did a wired test and get 1.8Gbps. That is not a great speed for 2.5G service but still decent, especially considering the pricing.

Therefore it seems to be a difficult case to talk to SIMBA.

during installation, he did used a LAN wired to his laptop. ookla speednet shows 1800 mbps download speed

me too. when i was on M1 (500mbps plan), can easily get 300~400+mbps on fast.com. switch to Simba can only get 100~200+mbps despite optic cable, lan cable and router all the same only ont different.

You can show SIMBA the test results to see if they will do something or not.

But must show wired test results and not wireless.

And Fast.com is not good one. Please use OOkla SpeedTest app (not browser).

Since SIMBA does not provide the router, it is good also good to carry out the test by directly connecting your PC to the ONT. If you do not have a 2.5G network adapter, you can still test with with gigabit Ethernet adapter first to see if you get 900Mbps+ or not.

As mentioned earlier, it could be SIMBA routing problem to the SpeedTest servers. One post mentioned about using GSL network test server.

I can do 900 to 1100 mostly on my 2.5g firewall, it's good enough.. it's $20.. stop complaining.

that's why i have been posting..

SIMBA IS BAD, YOU WILL NOT GET 2.5GBPS, DO NOT SIGN UP SIMBA, PLEASE GO TO VQ OR MR OR ST OR SH OR M1.
JUST GO ANYWHERE ELSE OTHER THAN SIMBA.

K THX BYE! - Let me go enjoy Simba by myself please, STOP SIGNING UP! THEIR SPEED TEST IS BAD. STOP CROWDING SIMBA PLEASE. LET ME ENJOY TIL THEY DRY AND CLOSE SHOP COZ NOT ENOUGH CUSTOMERS, THEN I GO BACK TO VQ.

THANK YOU.

Hi, I hijack this thread a bit.

I'm on Whizcomms 1gbps. LAN connection can get 800+ gbps. My Samsung zfold5, wife iPhone 15 Pro max and HP laptop are all 2023 devices that support wifi 6e. My router is tplink wifi 6.

My wireless speed is 400+ to 600+ mbps. Does it make sense to upgrade to that taobao xiaomi wifi 7 router to bump the wireless speed a bit? The price looks enticing.

If you are interested in 6GHz, then no point of buying XIaomi routers like Xiaomi BE10000, BE7000 and BE6500 Pro, as they are all China version of WiFi 7 router -- without 6GHz band support, no 320MHz channel bandwidth support.

But if you just want to upgrade from your TP-Link WiFi 6 router, then XIaomi BE7000 is highly recommended. It is also 2.5Gbps plan ready (quad 2.5G ports). So if you want to change to SIMBA later, it is a good fit for SIMBA 2.5Gbps plan as well.

Have you checked if your existing router supports 160mhz channel bonding? Many routers do not enable the 160mhz by default, so you need to play around with the router settings. I have an old HW AX3 Pro at my parents' house, without 160mhz, my Poco F5 can only do 600mbps, with 160mhz enabled, the speed can go up to 900+mbps which is close to the 1Gbps plan limit. As for the phones, those sold in 2023 should have some network acceleration option where it allows combining both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands at the same time.
