3GB when you are on the road using GPS, Google Maps or just googling for information is definitely enough.

Most cafe and Shinkansen have wifi if that's where you are doing your casual web browsing.
Connected to wifi when back in hotel to upload photos.

Happy holidays.

Edit:
Yes, tried before :)
And if you are traveling next month or later, your Senior plan will have more then 3GB due to rollover data
Lot of these hotels wifi does not have secure connection. Connected to these unsecured wifi are taking very high risk. DYODD.

When I travel overseas, only use mobile roaming data even the wifi connection is secure. You really don't know what are the infra behind the scene.

i don't really use public wifi, even when roaming, the security risks is high. When i was in china and japan, i tried connecting to their hotel wifi, my surfshark app told me it's risky as they analyse the wifi ssid has security flaws.

I always use 4G / 5G. If really no much data left, use vpn on wifi.

I'm not sure why you'd trust a cellular network more than a Wi-Fi network, or vice versa. Assume all networks are insecure. Then you won't be disappointed.

Many people have home broadband service, and they have home routers that support inbound VPN connections. Just make sure you know what you're doing when you set that up, and review your setup periodically.

Oracle Cloud offers a free tier that allows you to run one or a few ARM64-based virtual servers in one of their data centers for as long as you wish with up to 10TB of outbound network traffic per month. I leave it as an exercise to the reader to figure out what you can do with that.

Oh Oracle offer free tier. So meaning i can setup tailscale net using their virtual server and set it as Exit Nodes? Like that i can use it as own VPN server.

You could also run a minecraft server if you wish to.

There's always a catch when something is free. Just take note of this and work under the assumption that it may not last.

Building your own got more satisfaction. You get more control.
Used to be a hobby to play with hardware and software. Not my interest to go deep anymore, though still very interested with 3C. So I’d rather spend me time on what I like to do. Haha.
