Hi guys

Can somebody teach me an idiot proof method to root my Redmi so that I can install App2SD and move my apps to the SD card?

That's all I want to do.. Just to be able to move my apps to the SD card - is there any other way of doing this ?

Thanks all

Framaroot 1.9.1

Thanks a lot!!!

Sorry I am really a noob - So i just have to install the apk and run it and it will just root itself?

After which I install App2SD then it will install apps to my SD card? Do I need to do anything else?

lastly- is there an option of unrooting the phone after I installed Framaroot?

Thanks all

Anyone facing problem receiving the OTP after credit card check out? My redmi messaging app will auto shut down whenever message received. No problem receiving normal sms.

Does the phone allows you to select the default SIM for SMS and phone calls if you have 2 SIMs inserted (eg. you wont have to choose which SIM to use each time for SMS/outbound calls as my the other SIM would be a 3G data SIM)?

Thanks!

Before you make the call or SMS, you will be presented with the two phone numbers as buttons to make the call or SMS from. I am not sure if it will remember the option or set a default.

For making calls, the last used SIM used for the most recent call will be the "default", i.e. automatically selected after a time-out period.

For a new SMS, need to choose the SIM card each time, but honestly it's as simple as pressing "send" except it's a choice of the left or right button. It's unnecessary to choose the SIM when replying to an SMS.

There is $70 512mb/4gb versions too

Those super cheap ones are probably clones (yeah, clones of cheap phones). Huawei only has 1gb and 2gb versions of the phones. There is no 512MB version as far as i know. Read the description very careful, and you'll probably find the manufacturer is not huawei

Dudes,

By all means buy the Redmi or whatever phone you like. I'm not asking people to buy Huawei, and I don't get paid commission either. I'm just a consumer who has done his research, and just sharing my findings.

I don't really care which phone more people buy. If anyone has a question and I know the answer, I'll answer them to the best of my knowledge. That's all. Chill.

Guess it depends on what u use it for. The Huawei was out earlier but there's way less buzz compared to redmi, so why the difference? Don't say about the stocks shortage, even now when people can get both, I think more people will go with the Redmi.

Maybe a lot of people using this as a spare phone or use it as a phone for travelling.. for that purpose, the lesser RAM is not as impt, but the better cam will be useful for travel shots plus the dual sim card is also good for getting a local data sim.

And as 1 guy pointed out, flashing rom is possible, but u can never add more ram, which is true.. but how many people know to root, much less flash a different rom? To them the phone will forever remain on the same rom that it came with initially.

And lastly is the price diff and warranty support, Honor costs $100 more than Redmi wor.... it's a lot of money for another 1gb of ram, plus no local warranty for the Honor right?

Read on the Web and tried it.

Redmi's MTK chipset recognises the "first recognised" SIM slot as default.

What I did was
1) removed both SIMs, turn on the phone till it is booted up and show No SIM. (machiam reset the SIM slots)
2) Slot in the SIM card in the Slot you want as DEFAULT and boot up the phone again.
3) Proceed to add the 2nd SIM and boot up the phone.

The SIM slot in step 2 will now be the default for all Calls and SMS.
It worked for me :)
