TP-Link EB810v - Quick overview

Is anyone facing random sudden disconnections from the BE810V ? I need my Google Home devices (multiple) suddenly disconnected and reconnect by itself throughout the day.

I have Unifi enterprise 8 POE switch and 2 U6-pro AP.
I was wondering if TP-link EB810 will play nice with them.
Or should I change to other router such as Asus AX89X (2 x 10 GB port), or even UDM pro?

UDM Pro or UDM SE is the way to go for your setup, to enjoy the full benefits of Unifi ecosystem.

UDM Pro is amazing - I have one JUST as a router between SH ONT and EB810v in AP mode (10G in, 10G out). When you look at the features EB810v has it is absolutely pathetic - it's UI, controls, public internet facing management port... everything.. is just poor quality and design, so for me it just acts a dumb switch/AP now. The UDM on the other hand has some amazing features - so combined with your Unifi ecosystem, it'd definitely make sense. Only downside is UDM is quite large, so just check you have room.

Hi bro I just set up my two EB810vs with ethernet backhaul to thanks to your info.

Got an issue though -- MLO is ON by default in the agent with no way to turn it off, even through it is OFF in the controller. No way to change its name and password too - agent MLO somehow bears the default name ignoring that of the controller. Even tried turning it ON then OFF in controller to see if it'll sync over to the agent as all other 2.4/5/6GHz settings do, no luck.

Wonder if you observe the same problem?

For Ethernet - Yes, I had random and frequent disconnections across 5 brands of 2.5GbE USB adapters across Realtek 8156B/B(S)G chipsets so I TP-Link support suggested I RMA, which I did. Funny thing guy who handled my return said he had the same issue with his EB810v vs his PC NIC. Post RMA new set, so far so good since.

For Wifi - I suspect so, coz my phone overnight would somehow connect to another BSSID in another room far away. So I can only suspect the in-room wifi disconnected long enough my phone had to scan and connect to another. Hoping for firmware fix on these network stability and reliability issues.

Hmm what agent are you referring to? I am using the web UI, advanced mode and can disable MLO.

Noticed that my s23u having some issues recently where the wifi remains connected but sometimes latency feels high...

Agent is the secondary/slave router per EasyMesh terminology I guess.

Yes for Main AP (EasyMesh Controller) web UI advanced can turn off MLO, but when I login to the Agent web ui, I see that MLO is ON for it -- it disregards the Main AP setting unlike all other 2.4/5/6GHz settings which are sync'ed between Main AP and Agent. And then there is no way to turn it off for the Agent :S

Do you see the same in ur Agent web ui (which by your screenshot can be accessed at 192.168.0.4)?

Seems like a bug to me, if you see the same too, else my settings probably corrupted or something.

Oh... you are right... it shows up for me and the SSID is like some SH thingy that cannot be changed...

Thanks xiaofan! That addresses the MLO SSID being unchangeable, but doesn't say why MLO remains ON in mesh nodes/agents even when set to OFF in Main AP :/

Afaik EasyMesh doesn't use MLO for its operations. So MLO shouldn't be a requisite?

When the Hub Trooper delivered my EB810V, coz I chose to self-install, he told me to disable MLO when I do coz it's not stable and causes disruptions so they were instructed to turn in off during customer installations.

So if putting 2 or more nodes in EasyMesh somehow inadvertently forces MLO ON which Starhub advises to turn OFF -- filing a TP-Link support ticket see what they say... :/

Unfortunately it is only GbE capable, and it seems like the cheapest way to get wifi 7 on each floor with mesh capability (and wired 10Gbps for one floor and 2.5Gbps for the rest) is to have one EB810V (less than 400 for one, only need to buy two if go for double router subscription option) on each floor; with the EB810V in the basement serving as both switch and router for the other three EB810 V APs.

However, from the comments here it seems like the EB810V is terribly supported by Starhub, and TP-Link taichi back to Starhub if anything pops up. I wonder if the seniors here have any advice regarding this?

Just upgrade your main router to UDM SE first and reuse the switch and AP for now. Later you can upgrade your switch and AP as well.

No point to downgrade from Unifi ecosystem to TP-Link consumer router.

Would like to share that I am using a Lenovo Yoga PRo 7 14AHP9 with the RZ616 Wifi 6E chipset and also can't see my Wifi 6 network.

Hi, did you every get this working. I am also not able to see the 6 GHz SSID with either of my 6E enabled laptops, one is fitted with Intel AX210 and the other with RZ616.

quick more users email starhub ask them to hurry up. Need firmware regularly and it becomes a good router

I also have this re-connection issue but on my Samsung TV after upgrade to EB810V router. The TV need to reconnect to wifi almost every time i off and turn on the TV.

Maybe you want to create a guest network and use WPA2 Personal for security for those devices.

For Asus WiFi 7 routers, they will automatically create a separate IoT network for legacy devices.

Could be in the advanced wireless settings, you can uncheck TWT, then your devices will not disconnect to save power
