Since last week the counter will suddenly close at around 10+ am on some days with signage saying upgrading in progress. They will then direct sg user to use the egate at number 11 to 14 (left most facing the corridor) to enter without registration of fingerprint and will be able to enter. Exit also use egate 11 to 14.

Today morning I went to jb to register for mdac at manual counter for myself and my daughter due to new passport. Submitted mdac online for today.

Reached around 830am and saw mdac counter is open and 2 officer manning it. Found strange that there are no queue at all thinking is it down again…. Approached the officer and showed her the email for mdac online. She told me no need to register fingerprint. Can just try using the egate.

I asked her is it can use any egate and is it permanent that we no need to register it manually at manual counter. She mentioned yes for both(hope it’s true). Proceed to try out at the egate next to mdac counter( not egate 11 to 14) and able to enter for both myself and my daughter.

Btw the banner saying need to enrol at manual counter still standing at the front of the queue. They should remove it since they say no longer need to register. However all is verbal only and no official statement. Then some users update in telegram group in the afternoon that a paper pasted on the manual counter glass stating “no more registration just walk in to the egate” and the user asked the officer and they said just implemented. Don’t even need to submit mdac online

Not sure means no need to register anymore from today or only for today? If it’s the former, should just remove the banner at the start of queue and the other paper pasted on the glass to avoid confusion.

**as my daughter now able to use the egate with the new passport, I guess her old passport with photos taken at 12 yrs old causes her facial scan to fail at egate even though she register before as she is now going to be 17 yrs old.

tltr: just try egate (maybe counter 11 to 14 for the mean time) first. If cannot then go manual counter.

As above, Is there some new development in e-gate (no need mdac submission, no need register Macs)?

Nothing official yet but per some users SG can use MY's E-Gate like a MY.
Users' feedbacks are from JB's CIQ only - no news of other entry points.

It's funny that Malaysia Kastam time it around the period Agong visits SG. Hope they don't flip prata again.

Not many people know how to use 👂. What are the chances you think, that one day someone's gonna come here and say, "I thought you all say no need?" :s13:

it would be good if we are able to go online check ourselves if there is valid entry record .

Coming out just need tell the officer you use egate . if not he will be flipping your passport .

No registration. No security. Wow..
lol, egate itself able to restrict potential suspect/person of interest while not slowing down immigration clearance.
Common sense that checks will be done when utlising egate, otherwise, why waste funds to install egate clearance, just walk through simpler isn't it?
