With rain shower, maybe just 2 mins

if i make the water come down much slower, maybe 4 mins

I only can enjoy long hot showers when i go stay in hotels
omg, i calculated you need at least 50L at 70 degrees C, assuming final temp of 45 deg C for a 10min bath. These tanks are too big to wall mount. They are cylinders that sit on the floor vertically.

been using Joven storage heater for the past 10years in my 4rm BTO

recently spoilt and bought an exact same model to replace

but i'm going to move soon and i will not be installing storage heater again

takes 5-10mins for water to be very hot and hot water only last awhile (25L)
very sian

i'm the type that likes to take a very hot shower for a long while, it's very relaxing :)
you can consider going for a larger storage heater, and turning on the heater a little longer before you start the shower. I had a 56L Joven, turned on 30min before shower, with a large rainshower head, never ran out of hot water. Not sure if the sacrifice of flowrate with an instant heater is going to affect your rainshow experience.

any recommendations for the best instant heater?

Toshiba looks good
The flow rate is quite low compared to water flow from storage heater. To hide this defect, the shower heads for instant water heater, even with built-in pumps, have very fine holes to create tiny jets of water. I don't know if you'll like that kind of rain. The shower heads in the hotel have big holes, so the rain is more shiok.

The nature of instant water heater requires a slow water flow rate in order to heat the water instantly using just household 15A limits. To heat up a faster water flow, you'll need a bigger heater with ungodly amount of amperage.... like 30A to reach your hot bath temp.

An idea came to my mind, which is to hook up TWO instant water heater feeding the same rain shower head. (through 1 mixer). Of course, I think everything else in the house except lights need to be switched off to avoid tripping the house circuit breaker (or upgrade your house electricity intake to 3 phase).

Thanks for the detailed explanation.

I grew up using instant heaters in my parent's place

I'm ok with slow output from rain showers since i'm already slowing mine now to enjoy a longer hot water duration

to be honest, the answers here are not complete.

If you use full hot, 30L will probably last u a short while (5mins?)
If you use mix 50hot-50room will last longer.
if you use 25-75 will last even longer and probably for the entire bathe because it will boil faster than you use

also, it depends on the speed of flow of your shower head(s)

all plays a part. If you don't know what you need, get a 30L and try first.

AoS has an instant storage heater - otherwise i wouldn't consider it.
Ariston tiagong won't last >3 years without issue so...

Anyway, i am using Ariston SLUX myself so far ok since i can set schedule or remotely power it on in some ways, i have hot water each time i shower.

Just bought this Toshiba water heater. Does anyone face the issue of the water getting very hot (way above the set temperature) after you turn off the water and then turn the water on again? Gets very annoying to spray the water for 2-3 seconds at the drain before the water temperature is back to normal.

Ariston said water pressure issue, plumber said Ariston PRV issue. Wrote to PUB and Enterprise SG of PUB, yet no one can solve this just because Ariston said is normal. I knew this is not normal as cannot be daily basis. Everytime on the heater the water will leaks from the PRV and is leaking in a fast mode continuously.
If your plumber is PUB Licensed he should be able to solve this problem.

I know of one company who has License plumber and does submission for every heater replacement job to PUB

https://www.24hrsplumber.com.sg/
Or any reputable water heater specialist who work closely with PUB. Just Google it and call everyone up

most instant have this issue. My previous instant heater - 707 also the same.

best is you allow the water continues to flow rather than off/on. If you understand how instant works, you will know it is normal.

Thinking of keeping the existing gas heater in house. Any pros and cons of using gas heaters for shower? Current heater is rinnai reu-10rfm. Got any issues or not ah?
