Thinking of keeping the existing gas heater in house. Any pros and cons of using gas heaters for shower? Current heater is rinnai reu-10rfm. Got any issues or not ah?

I am considering either the ehg 25s or ehg 40s for installation above bathroom false ceiling. I am choosing these mainly because these are slimmest models among established brands such as Rheem and Joven etc.. Are there any other slimmer models?
Also is 25L enough? I am concerned 40L might consume a lot of electricity unnecessarily if we don't use that much hot water anyway.

Using Joven more than 10 yrs already, changed the heating element after 9 yrs due to the gasket cracked n caused water leakage. Also changed the thermostat together since already more than 9 yrs. So far so good.

I have the same issue with my Ariston 30 litre water heater. The storage tank cracked and started leaking. Still working fine. Wonder if I can just repair it? Have been using the heater for about 10 years.

How much does you repair cost?

Paiseh, I m not familiar with Ariston. U can do a diy visual inspection first, switch off power supply n open the cover to check the condition of the parts n to know what caused the leaking. I was quoted less than $100 for this checking service which I declined. As long as yr water pipes connection n the storage WH tank body are still in good condition, then can focus the checking on parts like heating element gasket, thermostat n the pcb. Sure u can get many useful utube videos n user manuals to help u too. BTW, the diy repair cost was abt $100+ 3 yrs ago, heating element $70 n thermostat $20 n a socket wrench from taobao. The con of DIY repair is no warranty provided for parts bot from Joven HQ. In angmoh countries is quite common to diy repair WH. If u can afford, just spend some money to get someone to repair it to solve yr problems.

No experience. But complexity = cost. The worst problem with complex heaters is that discovering they break down just before we need a bath.

Heat pump is just an aircon in reverse usage (you use the heat emitted by the aircon compressor and dump the cold air from the indoor unit). You're paying a lot for complex electronics and additional parts to save energy costs. In Singapore, our fuel cost is still quite low because of abundant natgas supply from Indonesia, so electricity price is still reasonable, not like EU or UK price.

Therefore, it does not make economical sense to spend a lot of money on a heat pump water heater, when the simple resistive heater tech (instant or storage) can last for many years with higher reliability. The cost of repairing an outage in the heat pump water heater after its warranty period over, may simply eat up all the savings from the electricity.

The only way to justify a heat pump water heater is you need heated water 24 hours in large quantities, like in a hotel where someone will turn on the tap for hot water in any minute.

I think it depends on outflow rate too? Haven’t tested mine yet as a family of 4. Will update again.

I've never run out of hot water before, the heater will kick on when the hot water amount depletes beyond a certain level, and with a thermostatic mixer, the hot water doesn't seem to run out. I suppose this is dependent on how hot you set the mixer to be.

In case anyone have similar issue where your 707 storage heater have leakage is beyond repair. But the warranty is 10 years. If you have receipt can call the 707 warranty hotline and they will do new replacement at $130.

Newbie question - I believe this one probably answered but I just wanna confirm.
I'm using the central instant heater from Benneton, almost 9 years already. Was thinking of replacing the shower head set and was asking..can it support rain shower or not?

The shower head set from taobao shows it needs 0.2 - 0.6 MPA for the..uh. LED to work, but not sure about the rain shower part and also..will the water pressure be able to support a rain shower? Wouldn't be dripping only bah?
